Kebbi Governor Says FERMA Is Nigeria’s Best Performing Federal Agenc
Kebbi State governor, Dr Nasir Idris, has called the Federal Emergency Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) the most effective Federal Government agency, citing its outstanding performance through the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’ s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that Idris said this during the visit of the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo to the Government House, Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.
The minister was in the state to innagurate a rehabilitated bridge in Alwasa village , Argungu Local Government.
‘In many parts of Nigeria, FERMA is actively delivering on its mandate. I am truly impressed with the agency’s work.
No Federal Government agency matches FERMA’s impact. I applaud President Tinubu for providing necessary supports to ensure its optimal performance’ the governor said.
Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting Federal Government initiatives and collaborating on projects that benefit Kebbi State residents.
‘Some believe Federal projects are solely the responsibility of the Federal Government, but I do not agree with that notion. My administration will always step in to support projects that have a positive impact on our people’ he added.
The governor also lauded the Federal Government for revoking the contract for the reconstruction of the Koko-Mahuta-Dabai road due to the contractor’s inefficiency.
Kebbi State had since been granted approval to take over the project and ensure that it is executed properly.
‘The road project is critical to the economic activities of residents in Zuru Emirate. We are in discussions with the Federal Ministry of Works to set a date for the construction’s flag-off ceremony ‘ the governor said.
Governor Idris further expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Mr David Umahi, for their efforts in advancing infrastructure development in Kebbi State.
Earlier, Alhaji Bello Muhammad Goronyo praised Governor Idris for his impactful leadership and alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
‘You have demonstrated exceptional governance by delivering projects that are transformative for Kebbi citizens.
Your alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is commendable and reflective of a commitment to national development’ he said.
While inaugurating the rehabilitated bridge at Alwasa, the minister highlighted its potential to boost economic activities and enhance security in the area.
‘Trade and commerce will thrive, and insecurity will decline with improved road infrastructure. I urge residents to protect this project by ensuring that heavy-duty vehicles comply with transport regulations’ he submitted.
Kebbi State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdullahi Umar Muslim, also commended FERMA and the Federal Ministry of Works for their contributions to the development and progress of the state.
The minister, who is visiting Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states to innagurate projects executed by the agency, was accompanied by Managing Director of FERMA, Engr.
