Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the release of N54 million for the payment of dowry on behalf of 300 men ahead of the upcoming mass wedding for indigent people in the state.
It will be the second edition that will be held under Governor Nasir Idris.
The event is scheduled to hold at the Emir of Gwandu’s Palace, Birnin Kebbi on February 27, 2025.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yahaya Sarki noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com that Chairman of the Main Committee, former Deputy Governor Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, disclosed this during the press conference he presided over in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.

Commissioner for Information and Culture, Hon. Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, and the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Musa Muhammad Tungulawa also attended the press conference.
Argungu noted that the success of last year’s mass wedding, organized by NANAS Foundation encouraged the government to sponsor another edition this year.
The Foundation is the brainchild of the governor’s wife, Hajiya Nafisa Idris.

‘A total of 600 brides and grooms from less privileged backgrounds will be wedded under the government’s arrangement.
Each couple will receive N180,000 as dowry, totaling N54 million, along with furniture, mattresses, beddings and household utensils.
Screening committees have been established in the 21 local governments to select eligible couples based on set criteria.
Prospective grooms must have a source of income and accommodation for their brides’ Argungu said.
He further stated that all couples would undergo mandatory medical screening, including genotype tests, while prospective brides would be tested to ensure that they are not pregnant.
Argungu, who is also the APC National Organizing Secretary , emphasized that the selection process would be inclusive, accommodating adherents of various faiths and without political bias.
Journalists were later shown the room furniture acquired by the government for free distribution to the brides to enhance their new homes -Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
