Kebbi Govt Mourns Passing Of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, Calls Him ‘Global Pillar Of Islamic Knowledge And Peace’
A statement issued by Kebbi State government to mourn the passing of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi on Friday noted that the government and people of the state under Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu’s distinguished leadership received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of the eminent Islamic scholar and global leader of the Tijjaniyya sect.
Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi died on Wednesday at the age of 98.
Governor Nasir Idris in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki described the passing of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi as a great loss not only to Bauchi and Gombe states, or the whole Northern Nigeria, but the entire Muslim Ummah.
‘Late Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was not only a towering figure in Nigeria but also a beacon of Islamic knowledge across the world. His lifelong dedication to Qur’anic memorisation, Tafsir, scholarship, and spiritual guidance positioned him among the most revered Islamic scholars of his generation.
His contribution to the spread of authentic Islamic knowledge, peacebuilding, and moral upliftment remain immeasurable.
The late Sheikh was a distinguished peacemaker, an exemplary religious guide, and the revered leader of one of the largest Islamic sects in the world. Through his wisdom, preaching, and exemplary conduct , he touched millions of lives and guided countless individuals to the path of righteousness. Many were introduced to Islam through his teachings, which emphasized peace, unity and devotion.
His legacy spans decades of widely followed Tafsir broadcast across Nigeria, the establishment of numerous educational institutions, charitable housing projects for students and followers, and tremendous contributions to Islamic jurisprudence. As Deputy Chairman of the Fatwa Committee of the NSCIA, his scholarly influence shaped Islamic understanding in Nigeria and beyond.
Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was a global symbol of knowledge, humility, and peace. His departure has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill’ the governor said.
The statement also added that the Government and people of Kebbi State extended their heartfelt condolences to the Sheikh’s immediate family, the Tijjaniyya community, the governments and people of Bauchi and Gombe States, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
