The Rector of Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari, Dr. Abubakar Boyi Dalatu, has submitted that the state governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu should be given the credit for the institution’s steady growth citing his unwavering support and assistance.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that Dalatu, who said this during the press conference he presided over at the temporary site of the institution on Tuesday, noted that the governor’s support and encouragement have reinvigorated the academic pursuit of the polytechnic and also improved its student intakes.
The press conference was also attended by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Abubakar Isah Tunga, and the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi.

The Rector recalled that the institution was established 14 years ago with a mission to provide quality technical education to the people of Kebbi State while acknowledging that under Governor Nasir Idris, the polytechnic has expanded training in cutting-edge technology, including vehicle conversion from petrol to CNG, and establishment of a Skills Development Centre approved by the NBTE to offer 18 accredited trades.
This includes fashion design, electrical installations, plumbing , livestock farming, welding, and ICT repairs.
‘With a ₦500 million TETFund intervention, the polytechnic has invested heavily in fabrication and workshop facilities, enabling students and staff to design, build, and test innovative projects.
We have also sponsored staff to attend local and international training to stay ahead in their fields’ the Rector said.
Dr. Dalatu also disclosed that the institution would soon open Study Centres across Kebbi State, bringing education closer to the people in line with the governor’s development agenda.
‘These achievements have positioned Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari, as a hub for practical skills, innovation, and self-reliance’ he added.
The Rector advised youths, parents, and guardians to take advantage of the available life-changing opportunities to study at the polytechnic adding that he is confident that enrolment would continue to rise.
He also noted that student population has grown from 200 to over 500 in a short period, with projections to exceed 2,000 in the next admission exercise.
