Kidnapping: Most Wanted Gang Leader, 4 Others Arrested In Kwara

30-year-old Babagida Buguda, who has had his name mentioned in connection with kidnapping activities in Kogi and Ekiti states, has been arrested and taken into custody by the police in Kwara state.

Kwara state Police Chief, Mr Paul Odama, a Commissioner of Police, who disclosed this during the press conference he presided over at the state police headquarters, Ilorin on Wednesday,  which was attended by journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com added that   Babagida was arrested along with two other members of his gang; Bashiru Yakuba ,  35 and Mohammed Umaru ,  26 years  in Oro-Ago, Ifelodun Local Government.

 He added that two locally -made guns and two Telephone handsets were recovered from them.

‘On 9/11/2022 at about 1745hrs, One Mr. Shina Luke Abiodun ‘m’ of Eruku town in Ekiti Local Government, Kwara State, and one other person , who were on a motorcycle  and were returning home  from Egbe , Kogi State , were accosted at Koro village close to Eruku town by some men numbering about six, who emerged from the bush and were carrying guns and other dangerous weapons.

The hoodlums opened fire on them and they sustained gunshot injuries. They however escaped the attack and ran to the Anti-Kidnapping patrol team stationed at Eruku town. The team moved to the scene and one Techno Phone was recovered. Forensic analysis of the phone by the investigators led to the arrest of the kingpin and two of his gang members in Oro-Ago, Ifelodun LGA, Kwara state on 20/12/2022.

The suspects confessed during interrogation to have been responsible for kidnapping activities in  Ekiti, Kogi and Kwara states.

One of their victims and his six-year- old son came from Ekiti State to identify and confirmed that they were kidnapped and held captive for six days by the suspects and were released after the payment of six million Naira as ransom.

The suspects also confessed to have also killed one Inspector Segun Ayegbulu of the NSCDC attached to the Ekiti  state Command.

Further Investigation into the matter led to the recovery of two locally- made pistols. Efforts are also ongoing to arrest the fleeing members of the gang and recover the remaining fire-arms in their possession’ he said.

Odama also added  that two other people; Garuba Abubakar and Abubakar Adam  have also been arrested by the police for kidnapping activities in Oke-Ode, Ifelodun  local government.

‘On 12/12/2022, intelligence report made available to the Command  had it  that one Abubakar Mohammed ‘m’ 15 years old was kidnapped on Oke-Ode – Share road, Ifelodun LGA, Kwara State. This prompted the Commissioner of Police to dispatch a team of State Intelligent Bureau (SIB) and conventional Police from Oke-Ode Division. Diligent investigation led to the arrest of one Garuba Abubakar ‘m’ A.K.A. Elero of Lokongoma village and Abubakar Adam ‘m’ of Ile Nam Oke-Ode, Ifelodun LGA, Kwara State, who are members of the kidnapping gang , they  have confessed to being the  one who collected the Five Hundred Thousand Naira ransom paid by the victim. 

The leader of the gang, one Chairman Rabiu ‘m’ ,who is presently at large, is said to be in possession of the gang’s  weapons  and was always in custody of all the ransoms collected as confessed by the two arrested suspects. Efforts is on top gear to get him arrested. 

All the suspects would soon be taken  to court    

The Command is stating for the umpteenth time, that Kwara State would not be made comfortable for criminals, therefore, criminal elements are advised to leave Kwara State, as necessary steps have been taken to make Kwara State hot and uncomfortable for Criminal elements’  the police chief added- Team@orientactualmags.com
