King Charles III , Queen Camilla Crowned At Westminster Abbey…Buhari Is 1st Nigerian President To Attend Coronation Ceremony In UK

A new royal era in Britain began on Saturday as King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey.  The new Brutish monarch was anointed with holy oil, and he has sworn the oath of kings, before the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

He had been heir to the throne since he was 3 years old and thus, had been made to look forward to becoming the king for more that seventy years.

His mother, Elizabeth  had become the Queen in 1953.

King Charles ascended the British throne on September 8, 2022, after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

  In front of 2,300 guests including more than 100 heads of state, the 74-year-old new king  has promised to maintain the Protestant religion in the UK, and to preserve the rights of the Church of England, as set out in an act of parliament.

 In his oath, the  new British monarch promised to govern the UK and the 15 Commonwealth countries where he is also head of state according to the law, and to ‘cause law and justice, in mercy, to be executed’.

The coronation ceremony was attended by  President Muhamadu Buhari , who was accompanied by the Secretary to the Government of t

he Federation, Boss Mustapha;  Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed; and the National Security Adviser,  retired Maj-Gen Babagana Monguno .

Others include the Director General, National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar and  the Chairperson/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
