Kwankwaso Faults FG’s Decision To ‘Sideline’ Kano Govt In Distribution Of Rice

A former governor of Kano state, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has faulted the decision of the Federal Government to make the rice allocated to the state available to APC bigwigs in the state instead of the state government.

Kwankwaso, a former senator, expressed disappointment that the rice allocated to Kano state was ‘handed over to members of the All Progressives Congress’ and he has urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and stop what he described as ‘a blatant act of partisanship’.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Kwankwaso said this in a post on X.com on Monday.

‘For the last one week, I have been in Kano, and sadly I noted with great disappointment the Federal Government’s distribution of rice palliative to 35 states all through their governors, except Kano State in the whole federation.

Kano’s share was handed over to APC stalwarts to handle. This is a gross insult to our constitutional democracy and driving partisanship too far.

I call on Mr. President to immediately halt this naked derailment of democracy’ he wrote.

The former governor also said three people have been sent to head the state command of the DSS in just two weeks, noting that this has become a source of worry.

‘I have also noted with great concern that within a span of just two weeks, 3 different State Directors of DSS were posted and reposted out of Kano, and we are still counting.

Without doubt, this is negatively affecting the security of Kano State’ he added.

Recall that Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, had submitted on Sunday that President Bola Tinubu was not satisfied with the way the food items earlier sent to the state were distributed hence the decision to reconstitute a committee for the distribution of the rice in order to get to the needy.

While flagging off the distribution of the rice to the needy in the Northwest geo-political zone in Kano on Sunday, Jibrin called on Nigerians to support the President to fix the country

Kano state APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas also took to X.vom on Tuesday to defend the decision taken by the federal government not to get the state government involved in the distribution exercise.

 ‘The reconstituted committee by the Federal Government is under  the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin’s leadership, with membership from the All Progressives Congress, New Nigeria People’s Party, Peoples Democratic Party,  Inter-Party Advisory Council, Senator Rufa’i Hanga, Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, members of the House of Representatives, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, the State deputy governor, traditional and religious leaders, among others’  he said.
