Kwara APC LG, Ward Congresses: The ‘Blue Flu’ That Went Wrong In Asa LG

Kwara APC LG, Ward Congresses: The ‘Blue Flu’ That Went Wrong In Asa LG

Although, Kwara State APC has successfully held its Ward, Local Government and State congresses with the party officials getting sworn in at different locations in the state and declaring readiness to hit the ground running, there has however been a rumbling of annoyance and growing discontent in respect of the decisions taken by the party leaders.

Interestingly, while no one has complained about the decision to allow party officials at the state level retain their respective positions, some party members are however expressing displeasure and complaining that some people were made to supplant party officials who had been made to retain their positions after getting elected by acclamation during the APC ward and local government congresses held between February 11 and February 12, 2026.

Party members have complained that changes were made to the list of Ward, and local government officials in Ilorin South, Ifelodun, Irepodun, Edu , Patigi, Ekiti and Asa local governments.

In Ifelodun local government, where a former Vice Chairman of the local government, Hon Suraju Babatunde has emerged as the new APC chairman, changes made to the list of party officials had produced a comedy of errors that has a man getting named as Youth Leader in Oke-Ode Ward 1 while his wife will serve as Woman Leader in the same ward!

The rumbling of annoyance is an issue that has received the highest volume of conversation and attention in the state for about a week now but no one can ‘voice out’ because of what happened in Asa local government a few days ago.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq

The request to make changes to the list of Asa LG party officials, the corresponding request, the blue flu and its consequences have made two foot soldiers of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq enter his bad books.

Prince Sunday Fagbemi

Alhaji AbdulLateef Gidado Alakawa, who is the Kwara State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the Chairman of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority, Ilorin, Kwara State and Hon Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq , who is the immediate past chairman of APC in Asa local government, are fanatical loyalists of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq they however need to pray fervently that the ‘excellent’ relationship should not become ‘frosty’.

Alhaji Lateef Alakawa

Prior to last week, the Alakawa faction had full control of the party structure in the local government with Dr Ibrahim Abdulahi leading a ‘friendly’ rival group while Professor Shehu Adaramaja’s group was seemingly ostracized.

Dr Ibrahim Abdulahi is the Federal Commissioner representing Kwara State on the Board of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) while Professor Raheem Adaramaja is the Executive Chairman of Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB),

Professor Raheem Adaramaja

The Alakawa group had played into the hands of Adaramaja group by requesting that they should be given opportunity to allow some among the party excos at ward and local government swap positions while they had planned to have the local government Woman Leader, Alhaja Sidikat an indigene of Okeso replaced.

The Adaramaja group became aware of this and used the opportunity to make a corresponding request.

Sources told our reporter that they complained about having no representative among members of the LG exco and the party leaders saw merit in their argument and subsequently gave them 8 slots.

Following the release of the final list, the shocked and enraged Alakawa group accused the party leaders of mischief and resolved to ensure that measures are taken to correct the situation.

The furious party members arrived in Ilorin and went straight to the state APC Secretary, Alhaji Mustapha Ishowo and made their complaints known while one of them reportedly threatened to attack him with ‘Paro’, a very dangerous charm object.

Seeing that it was a circle of menacing faces, Alhaji Ishowo said he knew nothing about it and after asserting his innocence, they left for the residence of the state chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi.

Birds told Team@orientactualmags.com that impatience on the part of the protesting party members resulted in tense moments and the subsequent unfortunate incident that happened at Prince Sunday Fagbemi’s residence.

When they arrived at his residence,  Prince Sunday Fagbemi reportedly noticed that it was not a ‘friendly visit’ and immediately sent a message to them to nominate three people who will meet with him but immediately the security guard opened the gate for the three people who they had nominated, they  attacked him and other security agents and resorted to forcible entry.

They thereafter began to call the chairman ‘thief’ and had threatened to set fire to the building which made Fagbemi sent a distress call to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who ensured that security agents were quickly deployed to get the unruly party members out of the place.

Security agents later launched a manhunt for everyone seen in the video posted by the protesting party members and many among them went into hiding.

Sources said the ‘manhunt’ was however halted after a gubernatorial aspirant, Alhaji Yahaya Seriki got in touch with the governor.

In the meanwhile, what was a bad outing for the Alakawa group has created a favorable outcome for the Adaramaja group and the university Don has been over the moon.

The list submitted by Alakawa group earned ‘rejection’ while the Adaramaja group enjoyed the exclusive opportunity to nominate the party officials.

The new Asa APC LG leaders were sworn in on Monday and Professor Raheem Adaramaja has been on cloud 9.

Giving his speech at the event, he said the new exco headed by AbdulLateef Isa Oniyo will ensure that the party is for all and also ensure that everyone is involved.

Interestingly, Sidikat, who the Alakawa group had planned to replace, has been made to retain her position as Woman Leader by the Adaramaja group.

‘What made the governor and other Kwara State APC stakeholders got annoyed was the fact that somebody must have provided funds to transport the protesters to Ilorin, and also take care of other needs and no one has owned up.

It was a ‘blue flu’ that went wrong.

Alhaji AbdulLateef Alakawa denied sponsoring them while Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulahi also said he was in faraway Port Harcourt for an event but the immediate past APC Chairman, Hon Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq was seeing in the video taken at Prince Sunday Fagbemi’s which made the party leaders leap to conclusions that ‘the voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau’ said a source.

Sources also told Team@orientactualmags.com that although the rumbling of annoyance in Ifelodun, Ilorin South and other local governments still subsists, political office holders in the local governments in question have however seriously pleaded with their supporters not stage any protest or say negative things about the party or its leaders so that they will not be in the governor’s black books-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
