Kwara Customs Chief Visits Emir Of Ilorin, 22nd Armoured Brigade GOC, Heads Of Sister Agencies…Seeks Their Support

The new Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara Area Command , Compt. Mathew Ojeifo has visited the Emir of Ilorin, His Eminence, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari , the GOC of 22nd Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army, and heads of Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, DSS, NDLEA, and other security agencies in the state.
Ojeifo has sought their support and cooperation to achieve the mandate and objectives of the NCS in the command.
Spokesman for the Command, Chado Zakari, disclosed this in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Monday.
‘In line with CGC’s vision for the need to collaborate and partner with Government Agencies, private sector and law enforcement agencies, the new Controller of Kwara Area Command, Compt. Mathew Ojeifo paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Ilorin, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, DSS, NDLEA and other security agencies in the state’ the statement said.

Speaking at the Headquarters of the 22nd Armoured Brigade, Nigerian Army, Sobi cantonment Ilorin, the Controller sought the cooperation of management team with respect to curbing trans-border crimes in the state.
The Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Customs Service, the statement added, had from time immemorial worked together when it comes to border management, intelligence sharing and capacity building. The Controller also talked about the recent collaboration with the Nigerian Army while stating his intention to further cement the existing relationship.
“For us in Customs and indeed all other members of the Security Agencies, our task in this part of the country is critical. We have a collective mandate to ensure that we enhance national security’ he said.
The Controller also on behalf of the Comptroller General of Customs, Compt. AB Adeniyi and the NCS management team and staff sympathized with the Nigerian Army over the recent killings of gallant soldiers in Delta state. He described the attack as barbaric and prayed that God will repose the souls of the officers and soldiers.
Responding, Brigadier-General AA Babalola said the Nigerian Army will continue to work assiduously with the NCS in tackling trans-border crimes, banditry, and other security challenges in the state.
‘At the state Police Command, and the offices of the Director DSS and other security agencies , the Controller reaffirmed the determination of the NCS and its commitment to collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force, State Security Services, Nigeria Immigration Service, NDLEA and other security agencies to curb cross-border crimes, especially the dangerous drugs like marijuana, smuggling of small arms and light weapons in the state.
It is because of that synergy that people are attesting to it that security has improved greatly in Kwara state. The synergy should not only be about visiting each other but let it go down to our other ranks’ Compt. Ojeifo added.
In their separate responses, they assured that they are ready to work with the Controller to succeed in his responsibilities of trade facilitation, revenue generation and Anti-smuggling activities in the state without compromising National security.
They also restated the need for all agencies to remain focused and committed to securing the state and making the state free of illegal goods.
During the visit to all the agencies , they assured the CAC of maximum cooperation and partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service towards effective security. Ojeifo noted that the already established working relationship that exists between the Police, Army, DSS, NIS, NDLEA and NCS is such that cannot be erased or tampered with and they all gave assurances of a stronger working relationship with NCS.
Compt. FM Ojeifo has also visited the Emir of Ilorin , who is the Chairman of Kwara state Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Sulu Gambari, at his Palace, Ilorin.
During the visit, the Customs Area Controller introduced himself to the Emir as the new Controller of Customs, Kwara Command and sought royal blessings to succeed in his responsibilities .
