Kwara state government on Sunday took steps to enhance local health services and save lives of rural dwellers by distributing 12 motorcycle ambulances to health facilities in Ilorin West, Ilorin East and Ilorin South local governments.
This was done to ease transportation of patients from their homes to the hospital during emergencies.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Sunday noted that representatives of the benefiting communities poured encomiums on the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his love and commitment to the wellbeing of people living in rural communities in the state at the event.
They were unanimous in their opinion that the people of the rural communities had never had it so good, thanking the governor for his kindness and commitment to their wellbeing.
The community representatives; Mallam Orire Ibrahim(Ilorin West),Alhaji AbdulRazaq Kebe (Ilorin South) and Pastor Ishola Tubosun ( Ilorin East) in their separate speeches, expressed their people’s gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq, assuring him of their full support in the forthcoming general election.
Ibrahim, who received the motorcycle ambulance on behalf of Ilorin- West local government, said the intervention will ‘ease problems of getting to hospitals by our people living in the rural areas’.
Kebe, who received the motorcycle ambulance on behalf of Ilorin South, also said the intervention of the governor in taking care of people in the rural communities ‘is incomparable’ assuring that the people of the area will vote for him and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates massively in the coming general election.

The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Dr Jemilat Bio Ibrahim presented the motorcycle ambulances to the representatives of the benefitting communities on behalf of Governor AbdulRazaq during a brief ceremony held at the Government House, Ilorin.
She said Governor AbdulRazaq, because of his commitment to the wellness and wellbeing of the people of the rural communities, especially the pregnant women, had facilitated the provision of the 12 motorcycle ambulances through the office of the president’s Senior Special Assistant on SDGs.
The governor’s aide said in chosen the benefitting local governments, the state government had considered communities that are far to reach and those with bad roads where conventional ambulances cannot get to easily while adding that the motorcycle ambulances would also reduce maternal and child mortality rates in the state as more pregnant women and children in rural communities would now have access to a quick and an efficient healthcare services.
While thanking the governor for the approval given for the distribution of the ambulances, Jemilat Ibrahim said her office will also distribute 100 beds to hospitals in the state soon.
She urged the benefiting communities to take ownership of the ambulances and ensure their maintenance so that they can serve them for a very long time.
The Special Assistant also disclosed that about 3,000 Kwarans have been shortlisted to benefit from a COVID-19 UNDP economic recovery funds-Team@orientactualmags.com
