Kwara Hotel: PDP Demands List of Auctioned Off Items, Sales Revenue
Kwara state PDP has called on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to in the spirit of transparency and accountability give an update on the auctioned off items at the Kwara Hotel, Ilorin , and the sales revenue.
The party alleged that properties belonging to the hotel were looted by some state-sponsored agents in late November 2023, but that the state government had absolved them from blame , took responsibility, and submitted that it was an auctioning off unused items which was authorized.
The state PDP in a statement issued in Ilorin on Monday and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olusegun Olusola Adewara said the people of Kwara deserve to know the sales revenue and where the money is being kept before any work can begin on the facility.
“Our party is concerned that since December 7, 2023, when the controversial auction process was completed, the government has yet to give the people of Kwara, on whose behalf it auctioned off those items, any information about the income generated from the process, where the money is kept, and other technical information associated with the auction process. We therefore sternly demand that the Abdulrazaq-led Kwara state government should provide a detailed account of the income generated from the claimed auction process and where the fund was kept.
Furthermore, the government is urged to furnish the public with comprehensive information in respect of the list of items auctioned off including the unit price attached to each of them, along with details of the four registered auctioneers the government claimed to have engaged to undertake the auction process. As a party, we maintain that a responsible government ought to brief the public after such an operation without having to wait for citizens to ask questions’ the statement said.
The party also gave its take on the planned renovation of the hospitality outfit which has N17.8 billion as its project cost while alleging underhand dealings.
‘Before the latest revelations by ENETSUD, our party had restated our disapproval of spending such a humongous Taxpayers’ money on the renovation of Kwara Hotel when the state is facing a serious infrastructural deficit and people’s living conditions are on the decline.
We have also called for a halt of further action until the government clarifies its position on whether the fund is meant for renovation of the hotel or whether a new hotel will be coming under construction’ PDP added while strongly warning the management team of Craneburg Construction Company to be prepared to account for every kobo it has allegedly collected without due diligence when a new administration comes into being-Team@orientactualmags.com
