Kwara: I’m Not Interested In Argument Over ‘Ransom Payment’…Safety Of My Subjects ‘My Primary Concern’-Owa Of Eruku
Although the 38 people who were abducted by bandits after attacking the CAC, Oke-Isegun, Eruku, Kwara State during a church service about a week ago, had regained their freedom at the weekend, they are however yet to return to home and are still in Ilorin, the state capital, Owa of Eruku, Oba Busari Olanrewaju, has submitted.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Oba Busari Olanrewaju, who disclosed this when he joined Diamond FM’s Editor’s Hangout programme by phone on Wednesday, also noted that the freed Eruku abductees are currently receiving care and comprehensive medical check-ups.
The monarch said some of the abductees, who are elderly people and some who take daily medications and had not done that while in captivity, may have become weak and will require support to get stabilized noting that it is necessary to commend Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his sound, logical and reasonable decision.
He also thanked the governor and President Bola Tinubu for acting without delay and taking necessary steps to ensure the release of his subjects.
Asked if he was aware that ransom was paid before the abductees were released, the monarch noted that his ‘primary concern’ is the safety and wellbeing of his subjects and he is therefore not interested in such an unimportant matter.
Recall that the rumoured payment of ransom before the release of the 38 abducted people had caused a debate on social media.
‘I am happy that they have been released, getting to know that they have regained their freedom brings me joy. The most important thing is that they are out of captivity and Iam happy’ he said.
While commending the security agencies for their efforts to ensure security of lives and property in the town, he however urged them to attach importance to flushing out the bandits from Eruku forests so that his subjects can return to their respective farmlands-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
