Kwara LG Elections: APC Wins All Chairmanship, Councillorship Seats…It’s ‘Sweet Victory’ -Fagbemi…It’s The Worst I’ve Ever Seen-PDP Chairman

The ruling party in Kwara State, the APC, has won all the 16 chairmanship and 193 councillorship seats in the local government elections held in the state on Saturday.
The election results were announced at the commission’s headquarters in Fate, Ilorin, the state capital, on Sunday morning by Mr. Muhammad Baba- Okanla, who is the chairman of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC).
This development had signaled the conclusion of the election process.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that a mixed reaction greeted the announcement made by the KWASIEC chairman on Sunday.
While the announcement of election results by Mr. Okanla was greeted with jubilation by the APC members and supporters, the leading opposition party, the PDP, however, rejected the election results.
Kwara State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Adeniran Fagbemi issued a statement on Sunday to congratulate the new local government leaders while hailing the outcome as a triumph of democracy.
The people of Kwara State have also according to him acknowledged the trust placed in the party adding that the victory was as a result of the impressive development projects executed by the Governor AbdulRahaman administration in the state and his commitment to sustaining development across the state.

The APC chairman in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com commended the governor for giving the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWSIEC) the needed support to conduct free, fair, and credible elections.
He therefore encouraged the newly elected chairmen to ensure even development across all communities, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling their campaign promises to maintain the support of the people.
Fagbemi also appreciated all agencies of government involved in the polls as well as all the progressive opposition parties that participated in the election for ensuring a peaceful election devoid of the alleged planned violence by the main opposition party, the PDP.
He applauded the Party Executives and members across the 193 Wards for the political sagacity deployed in ensuring landslide victory for the party at the polls while congratulating the leader of the party and the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for providing a level playing field for all candidates irrespective of their party affiliations.
Congratulating the elected chairmen for the ‘sweet victory’, Prince Fagbemi implored them to carry out their duties with high sense of commitments and follow in the footsteps of the party by delivering dividends of democracy.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has also sent a message of congratulations to the new local government leaders and his party, the APC, on the successful outing at the polls.

The governor in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com linked the electoral success to the strides made by his administration, the support of every party member and stakeholder, and the sustained relationships that the party has built with the people of the state.
‘Governor Abdulrazaq commends the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission and the security agencies for the peaceful and hugely successful exercise.
The governor says he is confident that insights and experiences from the exercise will help to improve future elections in the state and across the country, especially that leadership of other states’ electoral commissions observed the exercise across the state.
Governor Abdulrazaq ,again, commends Kwarans for their large turnouts in the local government elections, their support for the APC, and their decent conducts while it lasted.
He thanks all the political parties for their impressive participation and sportsmanship’ the statement added.
The state PDP chairman, Hon. Babatunde Mohammed, has however described the Saturday’s local government polls as the worst in the history of the state.

While describing it as a failure and blaming the Kwara State Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) for not preparing well for the polls, Babatunde also accused the ruling APC of using its members as electoral officers at many polling stations including his Omupo community in Ifelodun Local Government .
He also disclosed that the party is currently assessing the local government elections in question and will announce its next course of action soon.
‘I have never seen this kind of election in my life. It’s the worst in the history of Kwara State.
We are still compiling situation reports across the 16 local governments. After we have done that, then we will decide on the position to take on the election’ he said
In the meanwhile, a middle-aged man was lucky to have escaped death as a group of protesters tried to set fire to him opposite the KWAISEC headquarters on Sunday.
The protesters were chanting protest songs and burning tires while the man who had reportedly gone to Shoprite to buy some items intended for personal use had questioned the rationale for burning tires and one person among the protesters had suddenly claimed that he was one of the electoral officers who have denied them ‘election victory’ and they pounced on the man and began to beat him.
The okada rider quickly left without bothering to ask for his money while the protesters continued to beat the man and as they were about setting fire to him, he surprisingly regained his strength and ran inside the KWAISEC headquarters,
The protesters later left after chanting protests songs for a few minutes-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
