Kwara LG Elections: PDP To Hold Primary Elections June 26, 27… Asks Councillorship Aspirant To Pay N25,000, Chairmanship Aspirant N100,000

Things are currently being done at a feverish pace by leaders and members of political parties in Kwara state as local government elections are scheduled to hold in the state on September 21, 2024.

The state PDP announced the commencement of the sales of expression of interest and nomination forms on Sunday while urging all aspiring candidates to ‘take advantage of this opportunity and participate actively in the upcoming elections’.

A councillorship aspirant is expected to pay N25,000 while each of the chairmanship aspirants will make N100, 000 available to the party while noting that the filing fees are ‘nonrefundable’.

‘The Kwara state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is pleased to announce the commencement of the sales of Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for the forthcoming Local Government elections scheduled  to hold on  September 21, 2024. 

All intending aspirants are hereby notified that these forms are now available at the State Secretary’s office. The details of the filing fees are as follows:

CHAIRMANSHIP:

– Expression of Interest Form: N20,000

– Nomination Form: N80,000

    Total                          N100,000    

COUNCILLORSHIP:

– Expression of Interest Form: N5,000

– Nomination Form: N20,000

       Total                    N25,000

The sales of forms for those interested in Chairmanship and Councillorship positions will commence today, 22nd June 2024, and will close on 25th June 2024. By implication, all forms collected by aspirants must be filled out and returned to the state office no later than Tuesday, 25th June 2024.

Additionally, female and the physically challenged aspirants are to pay 50% of the above rates for the nominations and the expressions of interest forms. This measure aims to encourage gender inclusions and deepen the inclusion of various strata of our society in the PDP’s programme for these elections.

Please note that both payments are nonrefundable.

The party  has also disclosed that its primary elections will be held on June  26 and 27 ,2024.

‘In the same vein, the party has also approved Wednesday, 26th June, 2024 for Councillorship primary elections and Thursday, 27th June, 2024 for Chairmanship primary elections, respectively.

The party adopts primary elections and/or ratifications where applicable, to determine its candidates across the state. This is in furtherance of our party’s commitment to true democracy where people’s rights to aspire to serve are strictly protected.
