Members of the Caretaker Committee are Engineer Tokunbo Omolase, Chairman, Adeyemi Misbau Adebayo, Secretary,  AbdulRaheem Isa Asawure, Publicity Secretary/Director of Mobilization, Fatimah Mahmud, Woman Leader, and Mr. Ayinla Lukman, Treasurer/Financial Secretary.

The swearing-in ceremony held at the party’s new state secretariat in GRA, Ilorin was attended by Kwara state NNPP bigwigs including Alhaji Fatahi Imam , state chairman, Kwakwasiyah group, Asiwaju Moshood Shittu , who served as Deputy National Secretary of the  presidential campaign council set up by the party ahead of the  2023 presidential election. Alhaji Badmous Taiye, Hajia Maimuna Sulaiman Mihammed and Imam Abdulgafar Abdulahi Onagun.

Giving his acceptance speech, Engineer Tokunbo Omolase , urged NNPP members in the state to ensure unity,  show commitment and support efforts to reposition the party.

Omolase ,who promised to ensure transparency and accountability, also disclosed plans and strategies he would be putting into action to revamp the party  in the State of Harmony.

‘As you are aware , the  National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party, New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) dissolved the  excos here from ward level to the  state level on Tuesday,  August 8, 2023, and this was ratified by the National Executive Council (INEC) on Saturday, August  12, 2023 ,during its meeting held in Abuja.

To avoid a vacuum, a 5- member caretaker committee with my humble self as chairman was set up  to pilot the affairs of the party for a period of three (3) months in the first instance.

My people, what is important now is for us to forge ahead as a team so, l extend hands of fellowship to the dissolved executive members from ward to the state levels and their supporters and I urge them to work  in harmony with the new team.

Our administration is going to be a goal -getter, and we will use consensus strategy to resolve conflicts amicably.

We will ensure corporate governance that will enhance team building and reduce corruption,  we will preach transparency while accountability will be our policy thrust.

In order to reposition the party, we have come up with  two models .

The first one is Board of governance comprising  eminent people who will guide the caretaker committee in setting goals, objective and strategic decisions and the second one is stakeholders, consultative forum that will aid membership drive  across the 193 wards, 16 local governments, 24 state constituencies, 6 federal constituencies, and the 3 senatorial districts in the state .

Funding these lofty aims and objectives can only be achieved through:

(1) Donation by lovers of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the stakeholders

(2) Fund raising through individual and institutions with a caveat that such funds must be paid to the bank account belonging to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Kwara state chapter, with strict compliance with the electoral acts which stipulate that no individual can donate more than 50 million to a political party or an individual candidate’ he said.

.

Also speaking, Hajia Fatimah Mahmud , thanked  the party leaders for  the confidence reposed in them and for appointing her and four others as Caretaker Committee members while promising not to let them down.

Addressing the party members, Alhaji Moshood Shittu  said  while other political parties may be waiting until electioneering approaches before repositioning their parties, the Kwara state NNPP has taken steps in respect of this because it has masses’  best interests at heart.

While lamenting the economic hardships facing Nigerians, Shittu described Alhaji Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso as a Nigerian who has taken steps to change things for the better in the country citing his accomplishments as governor of Kano state.

‘Alhaji Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso did exceedingly well as governor of Kano state and the records are there for all to see.  We cannot wait until electioneering period we must show interest in what happens to Kwarans and Nigerians.

Alhaji Kwankwaso during his governorship, sent 3,000 Indigenes of the state to different institutions abroad and today you have Kano having a good number of pilots, people with PhD degrees and master’s degrees.

Now that we have an NNPP governor in Kano state, the governor has paid tuition fees for 7,000 university students and also eased things for 4,000 people who are due for marriage but had gotten hindered from doing this because they have no money.  Money was given to them to start businesses. Things have changed for the better in Kano since it became an NNPP-controlled state’  he said.

‘It is part of the steps taken to ensure the progress of the party. It is not the kind of things that we usually see in Nigeria. Many political parties after the electioneering period would be inactive until a year to the election before they continue to prepare and do the right thing. When you talk of a political party, it is a platform that is meant to prepare Nigerians to participate in elections , the  NNPP was registered over 21years ago, but we thank Almighty Allah that after seeing the way forward for a better Nigeria, we formed a national movement.

Senator Rabiu Kwakwanso was the leader of the national movement and I was lucky to be  one of the 5- member committee  tasked with finding the best political party we could adopt and at the end of the day, we chose the NNPP . Luckily for us, we are able to win governorship , senate and House of Representatives seats in the last general election.

Just after a few months of joining  the NNPP so, it is now a platform that allows everyone to participate and contest and win election. To make sure people join our party, you cannot get the best all the time, within that short time, a lot of things went wrong which was during and after election. We now have to sit down and work to start preparing for other things and other elections. That was  what led to the dissolution of some of the state excos. We had some chairmen and even members that got involved in anti-party activities. So, because of that and as a party of integrity where someone like senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso is the leader, we need to see that we do what is right in the party so, I know that the National Working Committee followed the due process and made sure that they inform INEC which is the direct body to report to ,  and they did  what is needed to make sure that all the processes are followed and how they arrived at decision to  dissolve excos and also  suspend some of the members . We thank God Almighty that the caretaker committee members are the party members that we know and believe in and then they have been with us even before the emergence of NNPP’  Alhaji Moshood later told journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com when asked to give reasons why the NWC took a decision to sack the state exco.

He also defended the decision to adopt Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as NNPP National Leader.

‘It is automatic because of his pedigree.  For somebody like Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso to be in this party  is what we are happy about, nobody is qualified more than him to be the leader of the party. He was in the House of reps in 1992,  he served as governor for a period of eight years he was a minister,  and he is a former senator. So, when you want to say who can be the leader of this party, we don’t even need to say we are endorsing him. It is automatic to say he is the only one that has  what it takes to be the national leader of our party’ he submitted-Team@orientactualmags.com
