The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara state Council, has honoured Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq with an Award of Excellence , AbdulRazaq received the Most Gender -Friendly Governor award during the awards ceremony organized by the Kwara NUJ in Ilorin on Friday night.
The governor’s media office in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Saturday noted that AbdulRazaq had taken unprecedented steps to include more women in decision -making process in the state by making his cabinet 60 percent women and permanent secretaries 50 percent women.
‘Many other key government position are occupied by women, showing a clear gender- inclusion that is unprecedented at the sub-national level in the country.
The Governor in his effort to entrench gender- inclusion and balance in government also assented to an executive bill mandating at least 35 percent women representation in the state executive council and other classes of political appointments.
AbdulRazaq had received a similar award from the United Nations (HeForShe) in December 2020 acknowledging his gender- friendly policies and stand’ the statement said -Team@orientactualmags.com
