Kwara PDP Condemns Attack On Rice Farmers in Edu LG, Asks Gov Abdlrazaq To Pay Sympathy Visit Without Delay
Kwara State PDP has condemned the attack on innocent rice farmers in Bokugi, Edu Local Government by bandits while submitting that two out of the four abducted farmers have been reportedly killed in cold blood.
‘This latest attack comes barely 24hours after a church was attacked in Eruku painfully confirming the long-held opinion of PDP that Kwara is now under siege and that government has remained clueless and irresponsible in the midst of this alarming rise of insecurity across our state’ the party submitted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr Olusegun Olusola Adewara on Friday.
The party also strongly condemned the senseless killings in the state and commiserated with the grieving families in Bokugi, the entire people of Bokugi community, traditional institutions across Edu LGA, and the hardworking farmers whose lives have continued to be shattered by the criminal elements.Â
‘Farming is already a difficult job; it shouldn’t be a death sentence in a state with an organized government.
While Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has gone to Eruku for a condolence visit—an action that is an afterthought —he must also immediately visit Bokugi community to restore hope, reassure residents of government attention, and demonstrate that the lives of Kwara North citizens matter just as much as those in other parts of the state.Â
Anything short of this further confirms the long-standing belief that Kwara Northerners have been abandoned by the current administration in the state. It is on record that despite the countless attacks, kidnappings, and killings across various communities in Kwara North—from Patigi to Kaiama to Edu to Baruten —the governor has only visited the region once, and even then, merely to the palace in Kaiama without engaging the actual victims of the tragedy. This is unacceptable.
To us in the PDP, this is leadership failure and a total absence of human empathy from an absentee governor who appears completely detached from the sufferings of the people he claims to govern.
We believe that security challenges cannot be solved by mere press statements from governor’s media handlers while the governor enjoys opulence in Abuja.
We therefore call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently compel Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to relocate fully to Kwara State and take charge of the responsibilities he abandoned. No responsible leader leaves his state repeatedly at a time citizens are being killed, kidnapped, and terrorized. What Kwara needs today is leadership presence, not absentee governance.
The PDP reminds the governor that the primary responsibility of government is the protection of lives and property. If he is truly serious about addressing insecurity, he must live among the people, feel their pains, hear their cries, and act swiftly in their defence.
We once again, commiserate with the affected families and pray for the safe return of the remaining abducted farmers. Kwara PDP remains committed to standing with the people, amplifying their voices, and demanding accountability from a government that has failed to protect them’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
