Kwara PDP Criticizes Gov AbdulRazaq’s Cabinet For Awarding 3 Major Contracts To Craneburg
Kwara state PDP on Sunday condemned the decision taken by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s cabinet to award three major construction projects to Craneburg Construction Company Limited.
The party in a statement issued in Ilorin and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its State Publicity Secretary, Hon Olusegun Olusola Adewara criticized the State Executive Council for awarding the contracts for the construction of Kwara Hotel with N17.8 billion as project cost, the Unity Roundabout flyover, N8.4 billion, and the reconstruction of Unity Road , N1,513,528,195.18. to Craneburg Construction Ltd.
‘This means that Craneburg Construction has been awarded contracts worth N27 billion by the Kwara State Government at one go’, the party submitted.
Kwara state PDP has also alleged that the Company in question was brought by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and imposed on the Kwara State executive council members.
‘We make bold to say that this action, in which a single company that has not undertaken any project in the state before could come from the moon and secure all the construction contracts from the Kwara state government is alien to rationality. Could it mean that there are no other construction companies that possess the required capacity to undertake those projects all over the country?
We challenge Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to provide a transparent explanation for the exclusive preference given to Craneburg Construction Company Limited. Is there any undisclosed relationship or special arrangement between the governor and the said company? We call on the governor to come forth and clarify these concerns to ensure accountability and uphold the principles of fairness and equal opportunity.
This is particularly troubling considering that during campaigns in 2019, they had pledged to prioritize and support local contractors and ensure that they grow the local economy by constantly engaging the local companies. It is therefore unacceptable that the governor, who prides himself as head of ‘Ijoba Mekunu’ has now chosen to award N27 billion worth of state contracts to a single company’ the statement said.
While noting that the PDP in Kwara state remains committed to ensuring good governance, transparency, equality, and fairness to all and promising to continue to closely monitor the developments surrounding the contracts in question and demand answers on behalf of the people of Kwara state , the party has also urged the current administration in the state to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and openness in governance-Team@orientactualmags.com
