Kwara PDP To Gov Abdulrasaq: Put A Stop To Offers Of Inducement, Showcase Your Achievements If Available

Kwara PDP To Gov Abdulrasaq: Put A Stop To Offers Of Inducement, Showcase Your Achievements If Available

Kwara state PDP  has asked Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to showcase his achievements in office since becoming the governor rather than trying to induce and curry favour with  stakeholders in  the state. ahead of the 2023 gubernatorial election.

The party also  said it was surprising that while other first term Governors were inaugurating  projects , Governor Abdulrazaq, who  claimed to be performing well in office, had not according to the party  followed suit.

.

The PDP said the party and citizens were watching the governor while stating that no amount of inducement will change the people’s minds from voting out the  All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state next year.

This was contained in a statement issued by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Prince Tunji Moronfoye, in Ilorin which was made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com  on Thursday night.

The party noted with dismay, the failure of the Abdulrazaq administration to execute any developmental project in almost 4 years despite unprecedented federal allocation, Internally Generated Revenue and grants from the international bodies.

The PDP accused the governor of allegedly siphoning taxpayers money for his re-election bid and therefore challenged him to give account of how his government had managed the state treasury since May 2019.

The party noted that President Muhammadu Buhari had recently visited Ogun and Borno states to inaugurate projects executed by first term governors- ‘Dapo Abiodun and Babagana Zulum.
PDP added that the most recent of such first term Governors to invite Buhari to inaugurate projects, was the Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, who took oath of office six months after Gov. Abdulrazaq and whose state  had according to the party faced serious security challenges.

‘Imo state governor, Hope Udonzinma was labeled a ‘Supreme Court governor’ by his people on account of the fact that he got into office through a Supreme Court judgment that affirmed him as winner of the governorship election.

By this action, Uzodinma was inaugurated as Imo State governor in January, 2020, more than six months after other governors (including Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq) that were elected in 2019  had assumed  office.

Since Uzodinma became Imo state governor, criminal elements including the proscribed Indigenous People  of Biafra (IPOB) members have been disrupting activities of the government in a bid to make the state ungovernable.  Despite the challenges, the Governor has continued to deliver developmental projects for his people. As confirmed by President Muhammadu Buhari himself, he has visited Imo  on two occasions to inaugurate projects executed by Governor Uzodinma in less than 3 years that he became the governor.

But in our State, Kwara, we have a Governor that’s yet to inaugurate any significant developmental projects in almost 4 years, despite borrowing N46billion and raking in hundreds of billions of naira in federal allocation, Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) and grants from the international bodies.

When we challenge the governor, his aides and “data boys” are always quick to remind us that he’s a first term governor but aren’t Hope Uzodinma, ‘Dapo Abiodun and Prof. Zulum first term governors too?

The opposition Kwara PDP and its governorship candidate have on different occasions challenged Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to tell Kwarans what he has done with the humongous revenues that have accrued to his government since May 29, 2019, but he has been unable to do this till date.

This has led to suspicion among Kwarans that the governor is stockpiling their collective resources to finance his second-term election.

When will Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq give an account of how he has spent Kwarans’ resources under his care?

Kwarans wake up every day anticipating and hoping to see something tangible from the governor to at least to convince them that their decision to elect him in 2019 wasn’t a mistake. However, Governor Abdulrazaq continues to give them reasons to retrace their steps and send him packing.

Instead of fulfilling his campaign promises, Governor Abdulrazaq has been trying his best to manipulate and buy the conscience of Kwarans, inducing different sets of stakeholders in the state.

Just two days ago, he met with Mogajis and Alanguas (Village heads) in Kwara Central Senatorial district, where he gave them the sum of N10million to induce them to pledge allegiance and declare support for him ahead of the 2023 general election’ the party said- Team@orientactualmags.com
