Kwara Police Command Reacts To Fake Robbery Alarm In Eleyin Village
Kwara State police command on Monday reacted to the fake robbery alarm that was raised on Sunday by some social media users in the state.
Spokesperson for the state police command, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, a Superintendent of Police, in a statement she issued in Ilorin and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com accused those who promoted the fake robbery alarm on social media platforms of seeking to ridicule and undermine the efforts of the command in combating crime and criminal elements.
‘The Kwara State Police Command is aware of a false report in circulation by mischief makers whose intent is to ridicule and undermine the efforts of the command in combating crime and criminal elements.
At about 1800hrs of February 09, 2025, the DPO Oke-Onigbin received a distress call from Ibrahim Sai ‘M’ of Eleyin village, reporting an alleged armed robbery.
Immediately, a formidable team comprising men from Acpol Omu-aran and Oke-Onigbin division was deployed. On arrival, it was discovered that there was a misunderstanding between a vehicle owner and some youths who were demanding for ‘owo ilè’ (money usually collected by loosely organized gangs of street youths) after the vehicle broke down by the roadside and this fracas was mistaken for an armed robbery by other road users and bystanders.
On seeing cops, the unarmed youths fled the scene, no robbery occurred, and the area remains very calm.
