Kwara South Senate Seat: Igbomina Youth Assembly Demands Fairness, Equity

Kwara South Senate Seat: Igbomina Youth Assembly Demands Fairness, Equity

Ahead of the 2027 general election, a group, the Igbomina Youth Assembly (IYAss) has given voice to the calls for fairness and equity in Kwara South senatorial district.

IYAss has joined other groups and stakeholders to emphasize the need for the Ibolo and Ekiti blocs to support the Igbomina bloc to produce the next occupant of the Kwara South senate seat in order to ensure fairness and equity.

The group in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its President, Pastor Olugbenga Ajibola emphasized the need to ensure that representation in respect of the senate seat is done in rotation while urging support for the Igbomina lokan campaign.

‘The Igbomina Youth Assembly (IYAss), a community-driven and duly registered youth organization with over 65,500 members across rural, semi-urban, and urban areas of Igbominaland, spanning parts of Kwara South, Kwara Central, and, by extension, Osun State. For more than fifteen years, we have championed community development projects, capacity building, advocacy, and social re-engineering. Our core values remain youth mobilization, social service, and sustainable community growth.

Our members have made remarkable contributions in administration, education, public service, engineering, law, health, the military, and other sectors. We have actively partnered with government agencies at both the state and national levels, serving on various policy and social development committees.

As Kwara South prepares for another election cycle, voices from across the district are calling for fairness, justice, and balanced political rotation. History records that the Igbomina opened the senatorial representation of Kwara South in 1999, but our tenure was just a single term. For over two decades now, the Senate seat has been occupied exclusively by candidates from the two other blocs, the Ibolo and Ekiti.

Despite our strong population, proven leadership, and immense contributions to the socio-economic growth of the district and the state as a whole, the Igbomina bloc has been sidelined. The principles of equity and fairness demand that every bloc in a political district be given equal opportunity to serve at the highest levels.

The Igbomina bloc is ready. We bring to the table a wealth of political maturity, innovative thinking, and a deep understanding of both local realities and national opportunities. Our sons and daughters have excelled in governance, business, academia, agriculture, technology, and community development, consistently proving their ability to deliver results and unify diverse interests.

Ensuring that representation in respect of the senate seat is done in rotation  will foster harmony, prevents political marginalization, and strengthens unity. The Ibolo and Ekiti blocs have enjoyed uninterrupted turns for more than twenty years. Now is the time for the Igbomina bloc. Political parties have a moral and strategic responsibility to zone their senate nominations to our bloc and support our candidates to victory. This action will not only correct a historic imbalance but also inspire unprecedented grassroots support for any party that embraces fairness.

The Igbomina bloc has shown loyalty and sacrifice for the unity of Kwara South, often putting collective interest above personal ambition. Rewarding this commitment with an opportunity to serve in the senate is both just and politically wise’ the statement added while urging everyone to work together to ensure that the right thing is done.

‘We therefore call on political parties, opinion leaders, and community stakeholders to stand for equity by zoning the Kwara South senate nominations to the Igbomina bloc. This is the path of justice, peace, and progress. The time for inclusiveness is now. The time for an Igbomina senator is now. Let us move forward together, united in fairness, and ensure that the coming elections finally bring balance to our shared representation’ the group added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
