Kwara South Senate Seat: KSUG Leaders Call ‘Fairness’, ‘Equity’ Important Tools For Unity During Visit To Oba Ahmed Awuni In Igbaja

Kwara South Senate Seat: KSUG Leaders Call ‘Fairness’, ‘Equity’ Important Tools For Unity During Visit To Oba Ahmed Awuni In Igbaja

Leaders of Kwara South Unity Group (KSUG) on Sunday re-emphasized the need to ensure fairness and equity and put in place an arrangement that will make all the components and blocs in the Kwara South senatorial district have equal opportunities.

Ahead of the 2027 General Election, the group said it is important that the Ibolo and Ekiti blocs support the Igbomina bloc to produce the next occupant of the Kwara South senate seat.

The KSUG leaders noted that fairness and equity have immense potency for unity and cohesion adding that it will be in the interest of the future of Kwara South to support the ‘Igbomina lokan’ agitation.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that leaders of the group said this during their visit to the palace of Elese of Igbaja, Oba Ahmed Babalola Awuni Arepo II on Sunday.

Leader of the KSUG delegation, Hon Adebayo Jimoh Alao, a former chairman of Oyun local government, noted that the need to ensure that the bond of unity in Kwara South remains unassailable gave birth to the group.

The Ekiti bloc, he added, had occupied the parliament seat for 12 years while the Ibolo bloc that took over in 2015, would be completing its 12 years in 2027.

The group , Hon Adebayo Alao noted, took the decision to promote Igbomina lokan agitation in order to ensure that nothing goes awry while emphasizing the need for all to ensure equity and fairness.

He also urged support for Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi’s candidacy.

Dr Babatunde Salami, former Chairman, Ifelodun local government, also spoke in the same vein while noting that the group felt it important to seek permission from the royal fathers before taking the Igbomina lokan agitation to other segments of society.

‘Ekiti has done it for 12 years, Ibolo will be completing 12 years in 2027 by God’s grace, the bloc that deserves to produce the next occupant of the parliament seat is Igbomina’ he added.

Former Chairman, Isin local government, Hon Tunde Fadipe, also spoke in the same vein emphasizing the need to ensure fairness and equity and avoid a situation where a local government will somewhat get considered as ‘second class’.

He added that it is the turn of ‘Igbomina bloc’ to occupy the parliament seat while asserting that Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun is the best man for job.

Engineer Adeyemi, he noted, had sought for party nomination on two different occasions and although he did not get it but however remains a committed member of the party.

He added that if seniority had been made a primary factor in decisions on who gets what in the party, no one is expected to compete with Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi in respect of the Kwara South APC senate nomination, asking whoever is interested in joining the race to show patience, tolerance and loyalty like the aerospace engineer had done.

Alhaji Ibrahim Salahudeen from Ilofa, Oke-Ero local government, said the Ekiti people are in support of the Igbomina lokan agitation because of their belief in fairness and equity.

He noted that it is important that representation in respect of the senate seat is done in rotation to ensure unity and cohesion recalling how this was introduced in Oke-Ero local government in 1995/1996, which had since remained sacrosanct and has helped to strengthen democracy in the local government.

Also speaking, Hon Shade Olanrewaju declared the support of women in Kwara South for the ‘Igbomina lokan agitation’, while urging all stakeholders to root for Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi and promote his candidacy asserting that doing this will be beneficial to all.

Elese of Igbaja, Oba Ahmed Babalola Awuni Arepo II, who commended the KSUG leaders for having passion for the senatorial district, promised to support initiatives aimed at advancing the growth, development and progress of Kwara South-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
