Kwara: Why Adejoke Adeyemi’s Empowerment Programme Ended In Disarray

Kwara: Why Adejoke Adeyemi’s Empowerment Programme Ended In Disarray

Isin/Irepodun/Ekiti/Oke-Ero APC Reps aspirant, Chief Adejoke Mistura Adeyemi held an empowerment programme in Oke-Onigbin, Isin local government, Kwara State on Saturday and it was an event that has brought both good and negative news.

Chief Adejoke Adeyemi told journalists at the venue of the event that the empowerment peogramme is designed to ease things for party members and empower people to foster self-independence.

‘I appreciate God for all He has done for me and I felt it is necessary and important to extend this divine mercies to my people’ she submitted.

The event was attended by APC bigwigs in the federal constituency including chairman of Irepodun local government, Hon. Abdulazeez Aremu Yakub, Chairman of Isin local government, Hon Benjamin Jolayemi and Hon Segun Adebayo .

Items made available for distribution to the beneficiaries include 9 cars, 4 motorcycles, 40 deep freezers, 40 generators, 50 sewing machines, 50 grinding machines, 50 make up kits, 50 gas cookers, 500 farming tools and food parcels.

Unfortunately, only a few of those who had their names included in the list of beneficiaries eventually went home with the items.

Those who are ‘strong’ and some uninvited people forcefully took away some of the items and the unfortunate development took shine off the laudable initiative.

It was learned that there was suddenly a crowd stampede with people struggling for the food parcels and other items.

The event subsequently ended in disarray.

Birds told Team@orientactualmags.com that a combination of extreme mismanagement, signs of dimmed hope and disappointment on the part of the invited beneficiaries led to the disorderliness.

‘Ahead of the event, people were asked to apply online and it was later made known that 2,900 people were qualified and all of them were made to leave their respective towns for Oke-Onigbin on Saturday, however, on getting to the venue of the event, it was discovered that the items on the ground will only take care of 1,000 people.

As expected, there were side talks that made some people feel a lot of anxiety about being among those who will not be lucky to go home with any of the items and demonstration of patience naturally became impossible.

What followed thereafter was a crowd stampede that led to the use of tear gas by the security agents’ she said – Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
