Kwara state Ministry of Works and Transport, has formally announced plans to open the Babatunde Idiagbon Flyover Bridge , Tanke , Ilorin to motoring public from Monday, October 16 to Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
A statement issued in Ilorin and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Sam Bola Onile, who is the Press Secretary of the ministry, however noted that not all the roads at the intersection will be made available for public use.
‘Members of the public are to note, however, that only the section from Tanke Junction down to the University of Ilorin gate will be accessible. This is for the safety of all as some skeletal construction works are still ongoing amid heavy deployment of traffic officers. The crossing from Area F to Pipeline Axes remains shut for now’ the statement quoted the commissioner overseeing the ministry, Mr. AbdulQuawy Olododo, to have submitted.
The ministry added that the temporary opening of the bridge is to allow easy flow of traffic as the state gets set to receive huge visitors that would be attending the convocation ceremony of the University of Ilorin.
KWARTMA officials , the statement noted, would be deployed to the area to manage traffic and ensure safety and free flow of movement during the period.
‘We implore the general public and other road users to cooperate with the traffic officials that would be stationed in the area. This is to ensure safety of all as partial work is still ongoing in the intervening period. Full and last-mile work on the project will resume on October 24 after the convocation ceremony.
The Ministry, which prioritizes safety at all times, assures members of the public, including business concerns in the area, that the finishing touches on the Flyover will be concluded very soon. All inconveniences are truly regretted’ the statement added.
Recall that the Vice- Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, had in a statement issued in Ilorin by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun on Friday night commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for issuing directives to relevant government functionaries to open the Tanke Flyover bridge to motorists from Monday, October 16th, 2023, to 23rd October, 2023 in order to ensure a seamless traffic on the University Road .-Team@orientactualmags.com
