Kwarans, Other Nigerians Left To Engage In Guessing Game As Ex-minister Bolaji Abdulahi Announces Decision To Quit PDP
After announcing the decision to end his membership of the nation’s leading opposition party, the PDP, on Monday, a veteran journalist and prominent politician in the country, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi made Nigerians engage in a guessing game with regard to his new political party.
While some people may have leapt to conclusions that he would be returning to the APC, many are however awaiting what will be his eventual decision.
In a letter sent to the chairman of the party in Ubandawaki Ward which was dated December 16, 2024, and had the Kwara State PDP chairman and the chairman of the party in Ilorin West local government cc’d , Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi noted that it was though a ‘difficult conclusion’ but the only ‘tenable option’.
‘I write to formally resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). I have had ample time to reflect, and I have come to the difficult conclusion that this is the only tenable option for me at this time.
Mr. Chairman, please permit me to express, through you, my gratitude to the leadership of the party for the opportunities that I have had to serve the state and the country on its platform, and for the great moments we have shared’ he submitted in the letter in question.
In a telephone interview with Team@orientactualmags.com on Monday morning, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi noted that quitting politics was never ‘under consideration’ clarifying that he has only ended his membership of the PDP while a decision would be taken on his new party in the coming days.
He also submitted that the challenges facing the nation are enormous and it requires all hands on deck noting that it will be a great disservice to the country for anyone who has something meaningful to contribute to consider quitting politics while promising to make his choice of new political party public once a definitive decision is taken on the issue.
Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi at different times served as Special Assistant on Media, Special Adviser on Policy and Strategy and Commissioner for Education in Kwara State during the Bukola Saraki administration.
He served as Minister of Youth Development and Minister of Sports during the Goodluck Jonathan administration while he was also the APC National Publicity Secretary between 2016 and 2018.
He is also the author of a book ‘Sweet Sixteen’ which was adopted by JAMB for the UTME examinations-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
