KWASU:  New SUG Leaders Inaugurated In Malete As VC Commends Gov AbdulRazaq For  Retaining Current Tuition Fees

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara state University, Malete, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has described Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s determination and decision to retain the current tuition fees at the institution as an act of visionary leadership.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday noted that Professor Jimoh, who disclosed this during the swearing-in ceremony of the new leaders of the university’s Students’ Union, added that the governor made this decision to ensure that the people of the state continue to have access to qualitative tertiary education.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that the current economic reality that has made many institutions increase tuition fees would have added to the burden of parents and guardians of KWASU students.

He therefore urged the students to reciprocate Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s gesture of goodwill by conducting themselves peacefully and making optimal use of the opportunity to attend the institution.

He congratulated the new executives while noting that they have been entrusted with a significant responsibility.

‘Your roles are pivotal in representing and advocating for the interests of our diverse and vibrant student body.

The university community has placed its trust in your ability to guide and lead, and it is your duty to fulfill this mandate with the utmost dedication and integrity.

As the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Kwara state University, I want to assure you that the management is committed to supporting you throughout your tenure. We stand ready to provide the necessary assistance, guidance, and resources that may be required to ensure the success of your leadership’  he added.

Professor Jimoh  also noted that the success of the election that  has produced the executives demonstrated the collective commitment to upholding democratic ideals and offering the students a platform to develop and exhibit their leadership skills.

In his inaugural speech, the President of the Students’ Union, Soliu Kolapo Abdulkadir, restated his commitment to serving all students regardless of their backgrounds, stating that the mantra of his administration would be ‘Moving Forward- KWASU4KWASITES’

The Chief Judge, Munfa’at Akanbi later presided over the oath taking ceremony.

In attendance were the Dean of Student Affairs and Deans of faculties, executive and members of the alumni of the institution, members of the legislative arm of the Students’ Union, and members of the Electoral Committee- Team@orientactualmags.com
