KWSUBEB Workers Grumble Over Government’s Handling Of ‘Promotion Matters’

For workers at the Kwara state Universal Basic Education Board (KWSUBEB), Ilorin, it had been a feeling of resentment and indignation.

 Team@orientactualmags.com learned  they have continued  to  grumble  over a development  that had stood  as biggest existential threat to the agency’s positive relationship with its employees.

The KWSUBEB  workers  had  for months now grumbled over ‘promotion matters’  and the tempo of the  ‘rumblings of annoyance’ had increased in recent days , sources said  the grumbling has the potential to grow into a  roar.

  This development may affect management of education in the state considering the strategic role the grumbling workers play. Having a dissatisfied KWSUBEB workforce will definitely not produce good results.

KWSUBEB is the government agency that handles matters that have to do with public   primary school teachers and Junior Secondary School teachers.

It was learned that those eligible among the KWSUBEB   workers had taken the promotion examinations for 2017/2018 and 2019/2020 in August 2021.

   For a whole year, they had reportedly waited in vain for outcomes, the KWSUBEB management had however in showing signs of readiness to address their concerns has made matters worse.

The state government had a few days ago, done what came as a complete surprise to the KWSUBEB workers.

‘No one was given promotion letter; there was no evidence to show that anyone among the workers at the KWSUBEB office   has been promoted. Is that the way things are done?

 Some who were lucky to have been considered only got to have an idea of possible promotion simply because of a promotion salary increase. No one has been given promotion letter, no one is talking about the 2019/2020 promotion, the atmosphere has been filled with confusion. No one knows who has been promoted or not, even if you had been lucky to have a promotion salary increase , the state government has not backed this up with any letter , the KWSUBEB workers have actually been left with an uncertain future.

  A good number of those who sat for the promotion examinations and had also looked forward to receiving promotion letters not only had this becoming a mirage but also did not enjoy the privilege of enjoying   a salary increase as only a few people reportedly got a pay raise’ said a source- Team@orientactualmags.com
