Lagos: 579 Cholera Cases Reported, Number Of Deaths Now 29

Since the outbreak of cholera  in the Centre of Excellence  two weeks ago, 579 cases  have been reported while the number of deaths now stand at 29,   the Lagos state Ministry of Health, has submitted.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that  the state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi,  disclosed this during the press  conference that was held in Lagos on Monday while noting that the death rate was due to patients being presented late at the hospital or being  brought in dead.

He  submitted however  that no case had been reported at public and private schools in the state.

‘For the past two weeks, we have recorded 29 deaths and 579 suspected cholera cases. The 29 deaths were caused by patients being presented late that we couldn’t resuscitate them’ he said.

On June 11, 2024,  the commissioner had   in a statement he issued in Lagos  disclosed that the state had recorded an excess report of severe gastroenteritis cases.
