Lagos Assembly: Obasa Says Meranda Confirmed Decision To Resign During ‘Peace Meeting’

Hon Mudasiru Obasa, who has been fighting tooth and nail to reclaim his position as Speaker of Lagos State house of assembly, has asserted that his former deputy, Hon Mojisola Meranda, who had emerged as the new Speaker, confirmed the decision to resign from her position during the peace meeting held in Lagos at the weekend.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Obasa, who made this assertion while appearing on  Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday, added that there was nothing unusual about the withdrawal of Meranda’s security detail.

‘When my security detail was withdrawn without my consent, did I complain? At the meeting held in Marina, which saw the attendance of all party leaders, it was made clear, with hopes that all members were present, that Meranda herself declared her resignation. She made it known that she has stepped down.

Now, when someone resigns from a position, the associated paraphernalia is taken away’ Obasa who represents Agege 1 state Constituency, said.

The lawmaker also submitted that he has neither resigned from his position or gotten removed and therefore remains the Speaker.

‘Let them present the resignation letter. And if I were to resign, would I still be here? I’m sure you’d still address me as Speaker, even though we’ve never had a conversation before’ he submitted while adding that his removal was invalid abinitio.
