LASBCA Seals Off Ikeja Golf Club, Cites Disregard For Public Safety

The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has sealed off the Ikeja Golf Club citing negligence and disregard for public safety.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that this was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by  LASBCA’s Director of Public Affairs, Adu Ademuyiwa.

The statement added that the enforcement followed numerous complaints about safety lapses at the club.

Golf is considered as a rich man’s game and people who are members of golf clubs are unusually influential people.

‘The Lagos State Building Control Agency has taken a decisive action by sealing off the Ikeja Golf Club at Oba Akinjobi Way, GRA, after several incidents of negligence raised concerns about the public, safety of lives and property damage.

The closure was prompted by repeated complaints and a recent incident in which a golf ball struck a LASBCA staff member in its Ikeja Headquarters premises.

In addition to this unfortunate incident, there have been multiple cases of errant golf balls causing damage to vehicles in the vicinity’ Adu submitted.

The agency added that incidents of stray golf balls causing damage to vehicles in the area have been reported with the club’s management allegedly ignoring repeated instructions to implement necessary safety measures such as protective netting or modified play areas.

‘It is concerning to witness such a negligence from a reputable establishment. Persistent disregard for safety regulations is unacceptable, particularly when it puts lives and property at risk’ the statement quoted LASBCA General Manager, Gbolahan Oki, to have submitted.

Oki added that the club violated safety regulations through its lack of preventive measures while restating LASBCA’s commitment to protecting residents and visitors from preventable hazards.

He added that the club would remain sealed off until adequate safety measures are taken to address the risks-Team@orientactualmags.com   Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
