Late Yekini Ajao Aremu’s Life And Legacy Remembered At Fidau Prayer Held For Him In Iwo
Family members, friends, associates took turns to pay tributes to Late Alhaji Yekini Ajao Aremu at the fidau prayer held for him in Iwo, Osun State a few days ago.
During the prayer service, Islamic clerics praised the good qualities, characteristics, and moral strengths that he demonstrated while alive.
Alhaji Yekini Ajao Aremu, who was popularly called ‘Alhaji Owotutu’, was a community leader and an altruistic person.



Prominent Nigerians including Alhaji Tajudeen Abioye, who is popularly called ‘TJ of Holland’, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Prince Sulaiman Abubakar Sai Kayi, Mr. Ademokun Adeeyo from Dublin, Mrs. Iyabo Rahman (Maryland USA), Dr. Rasheed Salami and Mr. F. A. Aremu, APC Secretary, Iwo Local Government, also attended the ‘fidau reception’ that took place at Riverside Holiday Resorts, Iwo, while a popular fuji musician, King Sulaiman Alao Malaika was on the bandstand to entertain the guests.


Late Alhaji Yekini Ajao Aremu’s parents; Pa Aliyu Aremu and Mama Jasirat Abegbe from Akinlewa Compound, Molete Quarters, Iwo, were known community leaders during their lifetime.
Late Alhaji Yekini Ajao Aremu, an indigene of Iwo, lived most of his life in Ondo town and he was a close friend of late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, a popular human rights activist, who died on September 5, 2009.
A successful businessman, Late Alhaji Yekini Ajao Aremu, who was born in 1937, and left Iwo for Ondo town at the age of 15, started off as a butcher after undergoing apprenticeship under a butcher from Ilorin, Alhaji Sulu.

The deceased businessman, who was known for making sound business decisions, had many business ventures; he was a car dealer, a kerosene dealer and a distributor of Okitipupa Oil Palm and coca cola products.
He was the Vice Chairman of Ondo State Cow Dealers Association and his ‘supply clients’ include St Louis Girls Secondary School, Ondo, and Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo.
He was also instrumental in the establishment of Ondo Yekini Aremu Cooperative Society.

A dutiful father and a devout Muslim, Late Alhaji Yekini Ajao Aremu performed hajj in 1976, while he also played ‘important’ role and helped in taking Idimilokun Ratibi mosque project and Altaqwah Central Mosque project in Lisaluwa, Ondo to completion-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
