LG Funds: I Was Never Questioned By EFCC, Help Me Pose 3 Questions To Oyetola And Oyebamiji, Wale Bolorunduro Tells CHRSJ, CSCEOS
Former Commissioner for Finance, Osun State, Dr Wale Boloruduro on Sunday reacted to the assertions made by the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) and the Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS) alleging that he was once cross-questioned in respect of the handling of funds belonging to local governments in the State of the Living Spring while clarifying and submitting that at no point in time did any anti-graft agency grant him administrative bail in this regard.
Dr Wale Bolorunduro in a statement he issued in Osogbo and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Sunday not only clarified and asserted that he was never cross-questioned by any anti-graft agency in respect of how funds belonging to local governments in the state were handled but also asked the CHRSJ and CSCEOS to help him pose three questions to Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji.
Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, who is currently serving as Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, served as Chief of Staff, Government House, Osogbo, between 2010 and 2018, and governor of Osun State from 2018 to 2022, while Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), served as Commissioner for Finance during the second term of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and during the Oyetola administration.
‘My attention has been drawn to the baseless ,senseless and libelous claims made in the press release by frivolous organizations, who called themselves Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) and the Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS) that I, Dr Wale Bolorunduro was once under an Administrative Bail in connection with the funds belonging to Local Governments in the state.
I was never invited by the EFCC in respect of Local Government Funds, I was never a member of the Joint Account Committee (JAAC) meeting, where Local Government Funds are administered and I never attended, any of such meetings in my three (3) years in office (2011 to 2014).
I was aware of the position of the law made by the Osun State House of Assembly that Commissioner of Finance was never a member and I never attended any of such meetings. So, they should ask my successor, Bola Oyebamiji, if he was attending and why he was attending. He was Commissioner of Finance between 2017 and 2018, under Governor Aregbesola. Chief Gboyega Oyetola, the Chief of Staff, then, was attending despite the fact that he was never a member by that law, they should go and ask him, if he ever saw me at their JAAC meetings. I wish all of them the best of luck.
As a professional, I would not attend a Fund Allocation Committee Meeting that I am not a statutory member. These so called civil organizations have shown to the whole world that they shouldn’t be taken seriously. I was never invited in connection with local government funds, so, how can I be under administrative bail? So irresponsible and diversionary.Â
They are looking for politicians that are naïve to fund them for their expedition; Governor Aregbesola of ADC is their target and let them continue to search for their smoking gun, but let them get serious first, get knowledgeable in Financial Matters and due process before launching attack. The former governor is equal to the task. I am not in his party and I am not his spokesperson.Â
I am in PDP, I remain in the party and I am satisfied.
I have been out of office for over Ten (10) years, while I am statute-barred, I am willing to provide answer to any question, lawfully posed by any investigator. To say I was once under administrative bail in connection with the local government funds, which I avoided like a plaque while in office is not only a cheap blackmail, it is also senseless and the representatives of the organizations in question will soon hear from my lawyers’ Dr Wale Bolorunduro submitted –Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
