Mali: Former Prime Minister Moussa Mara Who Was Arrested Over Social Media Post About Political Prisoners Gets 1-Year Sentence
Former Prime Minister of Mali, Moussa Mara who has been behind bars since August 1, 2025, following his social media post about political prisoners, has gotten a 1-year sentence.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that a Bamako court sentenced him on Monday and he had faced trial sequel to his social media post that allegedly supported political prisoners.
He was accused of ‘undermining the credibility of the state and opposing legitimate authority’.
Mara, who served as Prime Minister for eight months between 2014 and 2015, has been behind bars following his July social media post in which he said he had met with political prisoners and promised justice.
The former Prime Minister will also pay a 500,000 CFA franc ($887) fine.
