Man Who Abducted, Killed 25-Year-Old Woman After Collecting N210,000 Ransom Arrested In Rivers
A resident of Rivers State, Goodnews Iberi, who joined four other people to kidnap and kill a 25-year-old woman, Rita Special Eleonu after collecting N210,000 as ransom from her family, has been arrested by the police and taken into custody.
Rivers State Police Command noted that the incident occurred in Emohua Local Government while adding that Iberi, an indigene of Rumuakunde Community, was arrested following investigations into the disappearance and death of Eleonu.
The deceased woman, an indigene of Rundele Community, Emohua LGA , had gone missing on December 13, 2025, while the case was reported on December 29, 2025, by her brother.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the state police command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko while noting that investigations showed that on December 13, 2025, Iberi and four other people who are currently at large, allegedly tricked the victim into following them to Rumuakunde community where she was abducted her and taken to a forest along the East/West Road in Emohua.
The police said the suspects had killed the young woman despite collecting N210,000 as ransom from her family.
‘Acting on this distressing, but credible piece of information, Operatives of the Command attached to the Anti-Cultism Unit (ACU) Emohua annex, utilizing intelligence-led Policing, arrested Iberi on January 8, 2026, at about 0630hrs at his hide out.
During preliminary interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to committing the crime, highlighting his role and further incriminating four other accomplices.
The suspect led cops to the forest where the victim’s decomposing remains have been recovered and deposited at the morgue of University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) for autopsy.
The suspect is currently in Police custody and an in-depth investigation has been launched, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of his syndicate’ the statement said.
Grace added that the Head of Rivers State Police Command, Mr Olugbenga A.
