Man, Wife, Grandson Die In House Fire In Ibadan…It’s 3rd ‘Devastating’ House Fire This Month

A man, his wife, and their grandson have died in the house fire that occurred in Ori-Eru, Idikan area of Ibadan, Oyo State on Friday.

It is the third devastating house fire that would be recorded in the country this month.

Recall that  67- year- old Muhammed Uba and his 52-year-old wife, Fatima  died in a house fire in Rangaza (Inken) Layin AU, Ungogo Local Government, Kano State on December 12, while a Customs officer, Tijani Kabiru,  his wife and four children were burnt to death in a large house fire in Ede, Osun State on December 1.

The fire incident that occurred in Ibadan on Friday affected a Storey building.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the General Manager of  Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Yemi Akinyinka,  confirmed the incident  in a statement he issued in Ibadan on Friday.

Akinyinka said the agency received a distress call from a resident of the area, Hassan at 3:46 am on Friday and immediately deployed personnel to the fire scene. 

‘On arrival, we found the upper floor of a six-room residential storey building engulfed in flames. We swiftly swung into action, and the fire was completely extinguished’  he said.

Akinyinka added that 3 people ; a man, his wife, and their grandson died in the fire incident while five others were rescued alive from the building , the ground floor and nearby properties were according to him saved from the inferno.

‘From our investigation, we discovered that in their attempt to keep their house warm due to the cold weather, they resorted to using a naked flame, which led to the fire disaster after they had fallen asleep’ he said.

The General Manager also noted that a team of policemen, led by CSP Olaniyan Jibola from Mapo Division, and Amotekun officials led by Gbenga Akinyemi from the Northwest Division, were also at the fire scene to maintain law and order-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
