Media Reports Claiming Gov Adeleke Met With Gov Makinde Behind Closed Doors In Abuja ‘Untrue’- Olawale Rasheed
Governor Ademola Adeleke though visited the Oyo Governor’s Lodge in Abuja last week to show ‘brotherly love’, he however did not at any point in time during the visit meet with Governor Seyi Makinde behind closed doors, his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Olawale Rasheed , has clarified.
In a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Monday, Mr. Olawale Rasheed explained that the two governors did not leave the living room where they discussed in the presence of aides and associates while also asserting that ‘there is no infighting among Governor Adeleke’s cabinet members’. He also submitted that those who allegedly sponsored the story are only seeking to truncate genuine efforts to reposition the party in the zone.
‘Our attention has been drawn to a planted fake news claiming that there was a purported private meeting between Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state. The concocted lies in the said story have no basis in truth as at no point did Governor Adeleke had any private talk with his Oyo state counterpart.
Governor Adeleke had visited there to see the Oyo state Governor’s lodge that had just be given a facelift as Osun state government is embarking on similar renovation project at the Osun Governor’s lodge in Asokoro. It was also an opportunity for both leaders to review state of relationship and chart a path to strengthen the People’s Democratic Party in the Southwest zone including the issue of filling existing vacancies in the party’s zonal exco.
The interactions were in the open and at no point did the question of begging and prostrating arise as there was nothing to plead or beg about. The venue was the living room with a photo opportunity. In the presence of everybody, the two leaders resolved to unite for the party in the zone, hence the need to call an emergency zonal meeting to hold later this week.
All insinuations about infighting either among Osun Government functionaries or otherwise are the handiwork of those profiting from the lack of substantive leadership for the party in the zone.
There is no infighting within Governor Adeleke’s cabinet over the planned meeting nor any disagreement as to when and how to hold the zonal meeting.
The two governors must have certainly felt embarrassed by the fake news as it was targeted at truncating genuine efforts to reposition the party with a new leadership after recent happenings.
We therefore urge members of the PDP across the South West to ignore the fake news and focus on making a success of the forthcoming zonal meeting in the best interest of the party’ the statement said.
Adeleke and Makinde are the only PDP governors in the Southwest while Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo and Lagos states are under the control of APC-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
