Media reports claiming that three among the leading Kwara state gubernatorial candidates met behind closed doors in Abuja on Thursday have been described as untrue.
PDP gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Shuaib Yaman , NNPP guber candidate, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem and the SDP guber candidate, Alhaji Hakeem Lawal were among the dignitaries that attended the opening ceremony of the TAC House located in the Wuye District, Abuja on Thursday.
They were there to honour Alhaji Tajudeen Abdulkadir Audu, who is the Makama of Lafiagi
It had since been confirmed that the three guber candidates only attended the opening ceremony and were asked to show camaraderie by posing for a group picture which they did.
It had been said that the three guber candidates had left for an undisclosed location where they met behind closed doors and had discussions centering on a possible ‘coalition’ and that it was also agreed at the meeting that a particular candidate should be adopted as ‘consensus candidate’.
It had since been confirmed that no meeting took place anywhere.
Kwara state NNPP guber candidate, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem did not attend any meeting after leaving the TAC House, the Director of Media of his Campaign Group , Mr Abdulrasheed Apo , clarified on Friday.
Apo told Team@orientactualmags.com that his principal, a one-time Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, had actually left the venue whilst others had joined the dignitaries including Otunba Olusola Adekanola on a tour of the facility because he had other engagements.
He added that Oba, a former Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, FCC, had actually left Ilorin for Abuja ahead of the meeting convened by the NNPP presidential candidate, former senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso that will have all the party’s guber candidates in attendance.
Apo noted that while he may not speak for the two others , who may have possibly attended the meeting purportedly held after leaving the TAC House, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem had not according to him set his eyes on the SDP guber candidate, Alhaji Hakeem Lawal or the PDP guber candidate, Alhaji Yaman Abdulahi since leaving the venue before other top personalities did yesterday- Team@orientactualmags.com
