Midterm Break: Yaman Pledges Commitment To Education As Students Return To Class In Kwara

As students and teachers across Kwara State returned to the classrooms on Monday   after the holidays, the state PDP gubernatorial candidate, Alh Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi, has urged teachers to remain dedicated to their chosen career while promising to address various challenges that had bedeviled the education sector if elected as governor in March this year.

Alhaji Yaman in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, also promised to ensure prompt payment of salary and promotion arrears without discrimination.

‘My vision is not only to make school environment  learning-friendly but  to also ensure that entitlements of the teachers are paid as at when due. We shall address the disparity between the salaries of SUBEB and TESCOM teachers to ensure commitment to duty while revising the issue of rural allowance without unnecessary delay’ Yaman said.

The PDP gubernatorial candidate added that the education curriculum of schools in the state shall also be reviewed to address contemporary challenges and especially, ‘make our young people self-reliant, employable and confident to face the world’.

Alh Yaman noted that one of the ways he intends to achieve his goal of sustainable education development of the state is consistent and sustained training and motivation of the teachers for optimum performance.

‘We shall initiate a yearly award and reward system that will motivate actors in the education system and re-establish the essential decency of our people through which we can build a more prosperous state’ he added.

Yaman has also promised to ensure adequate provision of teaching materials including Instructional materials and textbooks for the teachers and the students if elected as governor while urging teachers and parents to pay more attention to making their students and wards develop self-discipline, lamenting that ‘this plays a major part in the educational development of the young people’ -Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
