Misconduct: 4 Nigeria Immigration Officers Dismissed, 14 Demoted

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has dismissed four among its officers while 14 others, who were accused of various offences, were demoted.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned DCI Tony Akuneme, who is the spokesman for the NIS, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.
He said the affected officers were sanctioned after appearing before the Orderly Room Trial Committee of the Service.
DCI Akuneme said this was part of the efforts to rid the Service of bad eggs and in furtherance of the Federal Government’s fight against corruption.
‘Two other personnel were redeployed to new locations while 11 were issued warning letters and one was compulsorily retired’ he added.
The statement quoted the Committee as saying 11 personnel were still awaiting trial.
It, however, said four other personnel were absolved from blame.
‘The CGI is assuring the general public that there are no sacred cows in the NIS as all offenders shall be appropriately sanctioned’ he said.
While urging members of the public to be vigilant and support the Service to deliver more on its mandate, he advised them to contact the NIS ‘for feedback, inquiries and complaints on any of these channels: +2348033074681; +2348021819988; (b) Twitter: @nigimmigration- Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
