Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, who was the PDP candidate for the House of Representatives election held in Asa/Ilorin West federal constituency, Kwara state, on Saturday, has rejected the election outcome.
It will be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced the APC candidate, Alhaji Muktar Shagaya as winner of the reps election.
Ajia, who said he had taken a decision to take a legal action on the declaration of the APC candidate as winner of the election, also noted that the wishes of his constituents should not be allowed to be subverted.
He had since disclosed his next course of action in a statement issued in Ilorin which was made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the Director of Communications of his Campaign Organization, Mr Abdulrahman Aliagan.
Ajia has submitted that the reps election outcome failed to meet the principles of free, fair and credible elections as stipulated by the Electoral Acts.
“The Asa/Ilorin West PDP House of Representatives candidate, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia will like to make it categorically clear that the reps election outcome as announced by INEC was defective because the election was marred by irregularities, it has failed to meet the principles of free, fair and credible elections as stipulated by the Electoral Acts.
Our popular candidate, was a victim of widespread electoral fraud and manipulation by INEC in connivance with the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration .
The elections held in the state on Saturday were characterized by widespread irregularities, intimidation and voter suppression in order to clear the path for the inglorious ‘victory’ of the APC .
It was crystal clear that the game plan was to overturn the popular wishes of the people of Asa/Ilorin-West federal constituency, because their preferred candidate , Ajia had come out to challenge the maladministration going on in the state.
While thanking and appreciating the support of our teeming supporters, we equally want to appeal to them to remain peaceful and calm, we will not relent in pursuing our stolen electoral mandate within the ambit of the law and through all the constitutional means’ the statement said Team@orientactualmags.com
