Mosque Building Collapse Leaves 6 Dead, 10 Injured In Zaria
A section of the Zaria Central Mosque, Kaduna state collapsed on Friday and this has left 6 people dead and more than 10 others injured .
Four people reportedly died on the spot while two others who were rushed to the hospital for medical attention, later died .
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the incident happened while worshippers were observing the Asr prayer which is the third of the five mandatory salats (Islamic prayer) and it consists of four obligatory rakats.
Mallam Ibrahim Mohammed, who was one of the victims, said a stampede to the exits made people sustain injuries and not really because a section of the building collapsed.
‘I was pushed to the ground and lots of people stepped on me which resulted in all the injuries I sustained’ he said.
Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, who said the victims were observing the Asr prayer at about 4pm when the incident occurred , added that cracks had been noticed in the walls.
‘We had earlier observed a crack in the walls of the mosque yesterday and we were planning to deploy a team of civil engineers to effect repairs when this unfortunate incident happened’ he said.
