N10b Fraud Investigation: I Have Nothing To Do With It…My Aide In EFCC Custody ‘On His Own’ -Akume

Secretary to the Government of the Federation,  Mr George Akume, submitted on Monday that he has nothing to do with the ongoing fraud investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) involving his Personal Assistant, Andrew Uchi.

Recall that media reports had claimed that Uchi, who is in EFCC custody, is facing questions over allegations of corruption, bribery, and money laundering to the tune of N10 billion.

He has also been accused of acquiring properties worth over N6 billion in Abuja; Jos, Plateau State; Makurdi, Gboko, and Tarka Local Governments in Benue State.

Two Bureau de Change operators are also under investigation in respect of the money laundering case.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Director, Information and Public Relations, Office of The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr.  Segun Imohiosen in a statement he issued in Abuja on Monday clarified and asserted that Akume was not in any way involved while noting that the SGF has reaffirmed his commitment to transparency and accountability.

‘The attention of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has been drawn to the ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission involving Andrew Torhile Uchi, Personal Assistant to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, regarding allegations of corruption, bribery, and money laundering.

It is imperative to state categorically that the Office’s leadership is not in any way involved in the alleged misconduct, as it has always maintained a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity. We recognize the efforts of the EFCC to ensure that those found culpable are held accountable.

However, we urge the public not to speculate or draw conclusions as investigations are still ongoing. The OSGF appreciates the understanding and support of the public on this matter’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
