NACCIMA President Mourns Former President Buhari’s Passing, Praises His Pragmatic Approach To Governance, Willingness To Engage With Stakeholders

President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) , who is also the Chairman of the Organized Private Sector of Nigeria, Alhaji Jani Ibrahim on Sunday mourned the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari noting that as one of the nation’s former leaders, his contribution to national development, regional integration, and economic progress will remain indelible.

Alhaji Jani Ibrahim in a statement he issued in Abuja and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the best tribute Nigerians can pay to the former president’s memory is to sustain the economic reforms he initiated and work collectively toward a more prosperous Nigeria.   

‘It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that I, on behalf of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and the entire Organised Private Sector (OPS) of Nigeria, extend our heartfelt condolences to the Federal Government of Nigeria, the people of our great nation, and the immediate family of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, on his passing.  

The demise of President Buhari marks the end of an era of dedicated service, unwavering patriotism, and steadfast leadership in Nigeria and across West Africa. As a former military leader, democratically elected President, and statesman, his contribution to national development, regional integration, and economic progress remain indelible.  

A Legacy of Economic Reforms and Private Sector Engagement 

President Buhari’s tenure was marked by significant efforts to reposition Nigeria’s economy, tackle systemic corruption, and improve critical infrastructure. His administration’s focus on key sectors such as agriculture, energy, and transportation laid a foundation for sustainable economic growth. Initiatives like the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) and the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) demonstrated his commitment to fostering an enabling business environment, which the Organized Private Sector deeply appreciated.  

Under his leadership, Nigeria witnessed advancements in railway modernization, road infrastructure, and the diversification of the economy away from oil dependency. His support for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) also underscored his vision for a more integrated and prosperous Africa.  

A Pillar of Regional Stability and ECOWAS Leadership 

Beyond Nigeria, President Buhari was a respected figure in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), where he championed peace, security, and economic cooperation. His role in mediating regional conflicts and promoting democratic governance reinforced Nigeria’s position as a stabilizing force in West Africa.  

A Personal Loss to the Business Community 

The Organized Private Sector of Nigeria enjoyed a robust partnership with the Buhari administration, particularly in policy dialogues aimed at improving ease of doing business, industrialization, and SME development. His pragmatic approach to governance and willingness to engage with stakeholders will be sorely missed.   

As we mourn his passing, we urge the government and all Nigerians to uphold the values of integrity, discipline, and selfless service that President Buhari embodied. The best tribute we can pay to his memory is to sustain the economic reforms he initiated and work collectively toward a more prosperous Nigeria’ Alhaji Jani Ibrahim said.

The NACCIMA President also prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) will grant the former president’s soul eternal rest in Al-jannah Firdaus and give his family, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and everyone in the country the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
