NASS Elections Declared Inconclusive In Sokoto

Governor Aminu Tambuwal’s political future has hung in the balance since Saturday and this may continue as he is yet to know what lies ahead of him.

 Tambuwal was the Sokoto South PDP  candidate in the senate election held on Saturday  and  its outcome is still being awaited.

Team@orientactualmags.com   learned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had since declared National Assembly elections in the state inconclusive.

It was learned that the elections were marred by violence,  over voting among other irregularities.

There are three Senate seats  and 11 House of Representatives seats in the state.

It was further  gathered that Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was leading Senator Ibrahim Danbaba Dambuwa of the APC in Sokoto South  before  the senate election was declared inconclusive.

Tambuwal  had according to the election  results got   87,850 votes while Dambuwa had   79,991 votes.

The Returning Officer, Professor Shehu Usman Gulumbe declared the election inconclusive citing over voting and disruption of election process in the seven local governments in the senatorial district.

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko,  who is the state APC leader  , was  said to be leading in the Sokoto North Senate election with 11,732 votes.

Wamakko had  gotten 114,866 votes against the 103,134 votes that  the PDP candidate, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya  had,

Manir  is the  state deputy Governor .

The Returning Officer, Professor Ibrahim Magawata said the results from some polling stations with 121,010 registered voters were cancelled and consequentlydeclared the election inconclusive.

Similarly, no winner was declared for Sokoto East Senate election as results from  some polling stations were cancelled because of violence .

The PDP candidate, Shu’aibu Gwanda Gobir, was leading in the election with 2,051 votes having gotten 99,198 votes.

He was closely followed by the APC candidate, Ibrahim Lamido, who had 97,147 votes.

House of Representatives  elections  in Isa-Sabon Birni, Gudu-Tangaza, Rabah-Wurno, Tureta-Bodinga-Dange Shuni, Tambuwal-Kebbe, Gwadabawa-Illela, Wamakko-Kware and Sokoto South-Sokoto North, Silame-Binji and Goronyo-Gada and Yabo-Shagari federal constituencies were also declared inconclusive.   .
