New PDP National Chairman Kabiru Turaki Promises To Hit The Ground Running, Ends Impunity

Hon Kabiru Turaki, who was elected as PDP National Chairman during the party’s 2025 national convention at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Saturday night , has assured party members, supporters and sympathizers that he will hit the ground running and take necessary steps to restore internal democracy and ending impunity in the party.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Turaki, who said this while giving  his acceptance speech, also said the new National Working Committee members will effectively handle the task of getting the party repositioned.

‘The cross you have given us means that you watch us also take it to the Nigerian people, and that we shall do. We are not under any illusion that the task placed on us is a simple one. Our party is at a crossroads now, but we are up to the task; we are up to the challenge.

 Very soon, we shall be rolling out what our guiding principles will be and the modus operandi for achieving them. When we do that, we shall be hitting the ground running from day one’ he said.

The new PDP National Chairman also said the party belongs to the people and should treated as such.

‘Today, as I talk to you, the only political party that has retained its name is the Peoples Democratic Party. This has been possible because this is the party of the Nigerian people. Make no mistake about it; we are returning the party to you, the people. There will be no more impunity’ he said.

Former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Taofeek Arapaja has also emerged as the party’s National Secretary.

Addressing party delegates, Governor Seyi Makinde said the 2025 National Convention would go down in history as the gathering that marked a major turning point for the party.

Submitting that the party members are resilient, he added that the PDP had endured a long stretch of battles to reach the point where it could successfully hold the convention.

‘I want to welcome everyone to this convention—the resilient members of the PDP. Let me use this opportunity to welcome you to Ibadan, the state capital.

We have fought a long stretch of battle to get to this point, but here we are. And by the grace of God, this convention will go down as the convention that brought a turnaround to the PDP nationally.

As you go around, don’t only politick. You should also use the opportunity to take amala and gbegiri in Ibadan. On that note, on behalf of the people of this state, especially members of the PDP, we welcome you’ he said.
