No Cause For Alarm, Senate, Reps Will Pass Tax Reform Bills Into Law Soon –Rep Abdulmumin Jibrin

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin, has expressed confidence that the National Assembly will soon pass the tax reform bills sent to the senate and the House of Representatives by President Bola Tinubu into law.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that he said this during a television interview on Sunday night.
Jibrin, who represents Kiru/Bebeji federal constituency , Kano State, has done this barely a day after the Northern Elders Forum urged lawmakers from the north to oppose the Tax Reform Bills.
Recall that the 19 Northern Governors had met on October 28, 2024, and declared opposition to the bills. They specifically rejected the new derivation-based model for Value-Added Tax distribution in the new bills.
The northern governors in a communiqué that was read out by their chairman, Governor Muhammed Yahaya of Gombe State, said what is contained in the proposed bills negates the interest of the North and other sub-nationals.
Rep Jibrin, who is the Chairman of the Committee on Housing and Habitat, submitted on Sunday that the proposed tax reforms, along with other economic policies championed by President Bola Tinubu, are aimed at securing a better future for Nigerians.
‘I have no doubts about the approval and passage of the tax reform bills. We are committed to ensuring they go through.
For those of us who have studied the bills comprehensively, the benefits outweigh any perceived drawbacks.
Misconceptions about these reforms largely stem from misinformation being spread’ Jibrin submitted while emphasizing that President Tinubu and the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service are not pushing for conflict but are rather advocating a clear understanding of the goals of the reforms.
‘Since the bills are now before the National Assembly, it is our responsibility to scrutinize them thoroughly. Any contentious clauses can be reviewed and adjusted, as the bills are not immutable.
President Tinubu is making sacrifices today for the sake of a better tomorrow for all Nigerians.
His courageous reforms are laying the groundwork for a stronger, more resilient economy’ he added-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
