No Cause For Alarm, Snatched BVAS Machine‘ll Be Deactivated-INEC

No Cause For Alarm, Snatched BVAS Machine‘ll Be Deactivated-INEC

Ahead of the 2023 General Election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has  submitted that there would be nothing to worry about if the Bimodal Voter Registration Systems (BVAS) machines are snatched by political thugs on Election Day.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned Lawrence Bayode, who is the Commission’s Deputy Director of Information and Communications Technology, disclosed this on Wednesday. He added that the electoral body has a system that will deactivate any BVAS that is snatched.

Bayode  said this  while appearing on  Channels TV’s special election programme.

‘If a BVAS machine is snatched, we already have a system in place that can deactivate that it.

We  will deactivate it so that whoever snatches the device will not be able to do anything with it because the device pushes the accreditation data automatically on its own even without the operator pushing a button. When it is idle, it pushes that accreditation data to the backend’ he said.

He added that if hoodlums take the device to other places where they think they can manipulate the data on  it, the polling unit officer will report the incident.

‘If such a thing happens, the PO reports and from the backend, that device is deactivated so that the person who took away the device will not be able to do anything with it- Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
