No Rift Between Me And Fubara Anymore…He Can Perform The Duties Of His Office From Anywhere…Why Jonathan Shouldn’t Join 2027 Presidential Race-Wike

Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike submitted on Thursday that Governor Siminalayi Fubara can perform the duties of his office from anywhere adding that it is not mandatory for him to return to Government House immediately after the end of the emergency rule.

Recall that residents of the state who came out in large numbers to welcome the governor back to the Government House, Port Harcourt later left  for their respective homes when he failed to show up.

Recall also that all elected political office holders in Rivers State, who were suspended for six months on March 18, 2025, had on Wednesday gotten the go-ahead from President Bola Tinubu to return to office.

The state of emergency declared in the state by President Bola Tinubu came to an end on Thursday, September 18, 2025.

The FCT minister has however submitted that the governor can carry out his duties and responsibilities without being present at the Government House,Port Harcourt.

Mr Nyesom Wike

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that he said this while appearing on Channels Television’ s Politics Today programme on Thursday.

‘I am not his (Fubara) protocol officer. There is no law that says he must resume work today. He is a governor. I don’t understand the way we operate. Being sworn in today does not mean I will go to the office tomorrow.

You don’t know what my programmes are. You don’t know where he is. Governance does not mean one must be in the office to govern’ he said.

Faced with a further prodding question, the FCT Minister says ‘I am not his Chief Security Officer and I am not his protocol officer’.

Barrister Nyesom Wike also disclosed that the rift between him and Governor Siminalayi Fubara has ended while commending President Bola Tinubu for ensuring restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.

‘I have already said that we have been speaking. I will not engage with a man I have not forgiven. Everything is over.

I am not a politician who says one thing today and another tomorrow. We must move forward’ he said.

‘The president has done a great deal for us, and peace has been restored’ the Minister also submitted while however warning that those who are according to him coming up with contentious lines of argument may restart crisis in the state.

‘Unfortunately, there are people who do not want peace. Today, I watched individuals twisting the law, claiming illegality in the conduct of the local government elections.

But ask them: what did they do to prevent such illegality in the first place?’ he queried.

Reacting to the plans to make former president Goodluck Jonathan launch 2027 presidential run, Mr Wike said those who are nudging the former nation’s leader on are only seeking to precipitate crisis and make some people lose respect for him.

‘Anybody saying Jonathan should return because he will only do one term is only looking for a crisis.

These are the same people who frustrated him in 2015. Why now? Jonathan has made a name for himself globally, and they just want to drag him into unnecessary conflict’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
