Nollywood Loses 3rd Movie Star In 7 Days As Murphy Afolabi Dies One Week After Celebrating 49th Birthday

The shocking news of the death of a movie star, Murphy Afolabi on Sunday, May 14, 2023, has left stakeholders in the Nollywood in mourning.
Afolabi’s death had come a few days after he celebrated his birthday, he had turned 49 on Friday, May 5.
The popular actor, who acted mainly in Yoruba movies, was said to have died in his bathroom at his residence in Ikorodu, Lagos, on Sunday morning.
He had acquired a new car to celebrate his birthday last week while he had also been live on Instagram on Sunday morning.
He was said to have died from bathroom-related injury.
President of the Yoruba Movies Directors Guild, Seun Olaiya, disclosed the news of his passing on a WhatsApp platform on Sunday while the Managing Director of a popular movie marketing company, Corporate Pictures Nigeria Limited, Abdullahi Abdulrasaq has also confirmed the sad development.
The deceased actor, who ventured into the movie industry in 2001, was born on May 5, 1974.
He attended Osun state Polytechnic, Iree and his film credits include ‘Ifa Olokun’, ‘Omowunmi’, ‘Jimi Bendel’, ‘Wasila Coded’, ‘Olokiki Oru’, and ‘Idera’.
The Nollywood industry has lost three movie stars in seven days.
It had begun on May 7, 2023, with Obinna Nwafor popularly called Saint Obi, who was known for his roles in Candle Light, State of Emergency, Sakobi, Goodbye Tomorrow, Heart of Gold, Festival of Fire, Executive Crime and the Last Party.

Obi was born on November 16, 1965.
Mukaila Adedigba “Sikiru Adeshina” , a veteran actor had also died on Saturday, May 13, 2023.
