President Bola Tinubu hosted members of the women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.
He has once again, congratulated them for winning the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Recall that the Super Falcons staged a dramatic comeback at Olympic Stadium, Rabat, Morocco, on Saturday night and eventually defeated the Morocco women’s national football team despite having home advantage.
The match ended 3-2.
The president however disclosed on Monday that he did not join other Nigerians to watch the WAFCON final on Saturday while noting that he had done this deliberately.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said he did not watch the match to avoid a sudden increase in blood pressure as a result of tense moments.
‘I didn’t want to watch the match initially because I don’t want high blood pressure. My wife who was cooking my food in the kitchen, rushed out to tell me that we have won’ he said.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that President Bola Tinubu announced cash and housing rewards for members of the Super Falcons during the event.
Each player will receive $100,000 and a three-bedroom apartment, while members of the technical crew are to get $50,000 each.
That was not all, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum also gifted the team ₦10 million.
Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, and vice-captain, Chiamaka Nnadozie jointly presented the 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the event.
